Meet the Aussies (part three)

The clock is officially ticking, with Koda’s litter arriving in just a few days, it’s high time you met the father-to-be: Mojo!

​Mojo is a dual-registered (AKC and ASDR) Standard Australian Shepherd. He is a stunning, low-white black tricolor with some seriously beautiful marbled blue eyes. This boy is 50% love-bug, 50% fluff, 100% perfect moose man.

Mojo adores everyone and even has a signature move when he wants your attention that has yet to fail: plopping his fluffy butt right on your feet as you're walking to stop you in your tracks. His massive mane absolutely engulfs your legs as he presses his whole body against you. If you give him the pets he requests, within seconds he’ll be upside down with his belly exposed, demanding his "tummy rub tax" next and you'll be officially trapped right where he wanted you to be.

​Our handsome guy originally made the long trek all the way from North Carolina to join us, and he’s been stealing hearts ever since. When he’s not busy being a social butterfly, he’s a total couch potato who lives for a good chew toy and a long nap. Mojo has a gentle demeanor, low drive, and a heart full of affection, making him the perfect sire for future companion puppies here at Aloe Aussies.

​We are head-over-heels for this boy's personality, and we can’t wait to see that "Mojo Magic" in his very first litter of puppies!

Koda is 8 weeks into her pregnancy today, and it SHOWS! Poor girl is roooound, and that milk has definitely made it's appearance! We're enjoying the sunny day while we still can before the puppies arrive!

She's had her pre-labor bath and sanitary trim, and her whelping room is ready! She just needs her manicure and she will be ready for these babies to make their appearance!

Koda is 30 days pregnant today! Puppies confirmed, and growing beautifully 🐾

We saw 3-4 little babies in there for sure. Koda usually has a litter of 5-6, so there may be more hiding that we couldn't see yet! We'll do another ultrasound when they're a bit bigger in a week or two.

We are so excited that they look healthy, are growing, and we can't wait to meet the little ones when they arrive! 🫶 Only 30 more days to go for this beautiful girl!

Meet the Aussies! (part two)

Koda, or "Monkey", as we call her. Koda is goofy, playful, active, and vocal. She can and will speak her mind if she has something to say. She loves to make what sounds like monkey hoots and just the weirdest noises, simply because she loves to make me laugh.

What Koda lacks in height she makes up for in energy. Koda loves to run, play and jump at any opportunity. She is eager to learn and is so happy to do anything you ask, or even if you didn’t ask. She’ll do every trick she knows, just in case you wanted her to without saying it. She is smart as can be, and her puppies will be more suited for active lifestyles if we notice that they take after their mom.

Koda has the most beautiful red merle patterning, beautiful marbled eyes and long, thick fur. Stature wise, she is short legged, making her more the height of a mini aussie than a typical standard. This makes her and her puppies smaller overall to be more ideal for smaller homes/spaces!

Koda is a carrier of DM, or Degenerative Myelopathy. Because she is only a carrier of this gene, she and any of her puppies that may inherit this gene will be totally unaffected by it. Our males are not carriers for this gene, meaning our puppies will not be at risk of actually having this genetic disorder. This is just something to keep in mind should you want to breed one of Koda’s puppies from us in the future to find a suitable mate without this recessive trait.

Meet the Aussies! (part one)

Skye, the dog that started it all! Skye is a shining example of why you should support ethical, established breeders instead of just taking a random person off the internet's word. Sure, craigslist is easy to find a puppy, but are the people trustworthy? Do they care about the dogs, or just in it for quick money?

We bought Skye at 6 months old as a "purebred" Australian Shepherd. We were just getting into the breed, so we took the word of these people thinking people wouldn't just lie about something like that, would they?

They absolutely would. Skye is the farthest from purebred than any of our dogs here at ALOE Aussies. Because we DNA and health test all of our dogs, we quickly learned that she is 49% Standard Aussie, 35% Border Collie, 5% Mini American, 5% Kelpie and 2% Golden retriever (just for flavor I guess.)

Despite this, Skye is an INCREDIBLE dog, and while we don't condone breeding mixed breed dogs, Skye is our ONLY and last exception. In all other aspects beside breed she is amazing, healthy, and the most loyal companion. She goes everywhere with us, never needs a leash, loyal beyond compare. She is by nature just an outstanding dog. She produces big, healthy puppies with fantastic temperaments that make amazing companions and fit into any lifestyle.

Just to not continue the dilution of the breed, we do not allow puppies produced by her to be bred in their new homes. But if you are looking for an amazing new family member, with an amazing demeanor and an eagerness to please, Skye's puppies are where it's at.

Skye will only be having one more litter with us at ALOE Aussies before she is spayed and kept as a nanny dog (a dog that is not the mother of the puppies but helps to take care of puppies and teach them manners/social skills) because she just loves raising puppies. This litter will be her 4th and final litter.
