Okay FKC family… Our Elf Fund Campaign Starts NOW!

Years ago, a tiny 8-week-old kitten named Elf came into our care after being abandoned and suffering a devastating injury to his paw. A compassionate donor stepped forward to help cover his $3,500 reconstructive surgery. Sadly, despite every effort to save him, Elf developed a severe infection and passed away.

But his story didn't end there. Created in his memory, the Elf Fund is Fat Kitty City Humane Society’s fund for emergency, life-saving medical care, helping cats and kittens facing serious injuries, illnesses, and urgent medical needs receive the veterinary care they deserve.

Emergency surgeries, hospitalization, specialized procedures, medications, and recovery care can quickly cost thousands of dollars for a single cat—and every year, we take in multiple cats and kittens requiring this level of care.

That's why, from September 3–17, we're working to raise $20,000 for the Elf Fund.

We just can’t stop with the Happy Tails this week! ❤️

Today we have an adorable update on Aspen & Leafy, now known as Lucy & Lady. Aspen was renamed Lucifer, after the black cat from Cinderella (although she usually goes by the slightly less intimidating “Lucy” 😌). Leafy is now Ladybird, affectionately known as “Lady.”

Their family shared:
“We are in LOVE with our kitties. They are so fun, playful and cuddly. Every day one of us says how happy we are that we found them. It feels meant to be.” 🥹

Lady & Lucy are happy, loved, playful, cuddly, and exactly where they belong. We are SO grateful to their wonderful family for choosing these two and giving them such an amazing forever home.
We have a feeling we’re not done sharing Happy Tails just yet…

UPDATE: Ginger Cat day was a BIG DAY for Garfield: he found his forever home! That's it, it took you guys ONE DAY to find him a loving, forever home. This sweet baby is off to a new life with his new family! THANK YOU ALL!

🧡 In honor of Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, we want to introduce you to Garfield!

At just 6 months old, Garfield is already proving himself to be quite the little gentleman.

Garfield came to Fat Kitty City after his owner, a veteran, was unfortunately hospitalized and could no longer care for him. We were able to work together to make sure Garfield—and another cat from the home—had somewhere safe to go.

And whoever adopts this handsome boy is getting a gem.

Garfield is incredibly well-mannered and does wonderfully with cats, kittens, dogs, and people of all ages. He's confident around new visitors, isn't bothered by the dogs, and likes following his foster family around to see what everyone is up to. But he's also perfectly content relaxing by himself when it's time for a nap.

His foster family says he's wonderfully respectful in the house, uses his scratching post, and doesn't jump on the counters. He'll make an exception for the office sofa and desk chair, because apparently Garfield has important business to conduct. 😹

He's only six months old, sweet, confident, social, and already such a good houseguest.

This Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, we'd love to help Garfield find a family who will appreciate this little orange guy every single day. 🧡🐾

Today, we’re celebrating the orange, the creamsicle, the marmalade, the orange-and-white — and every gloriously ginger kitty in between! 😻

Orange cats have a way of being completely unforgettable (thanks to their antics and big big hearts) and… Life is simply a little brighter with a ginger furry friend around!

We’ve been lucky enough to know, love, rescue, foster, and find homes for so many wonderful ginger cats over the years—and to be home to over 25 ginger cats at Fat Kitty City. Today is their day, and we want to celebrate them as they deserve. Not only that: we want to SEE ORANGE as much as we can!

Okay, it’s Monday… but apparently we just can’t stop with these Happy Tails! ❤️

And this one is extra special.

Elliot Austin and Sullivan Joseph are doing AMAZING in their new home! Their family tells us these boys have made themselves right at home and are happy, healthy, and have more toys and attention than they could possibly need. (Exactly as it should be. 😌)

But perhaps the sweetest part? Their new older brother, Oliver Giuseppe, is also a former Fat Kitty City kitty! 🥹

Oliver has taken his little brothers under his wing and has been grooming and playing with them. Their family says watching the three of them together has been so much fun.

“They are just precious babies and I’m so thankful I was chosen to raise them.” ❤️

Three FKC alumni, one very happy home, and… a whole lot of love!

We couldn’t ask for a better update to start our week. Thank you to their wonderful family for choosing rescue, not once, but over and over again!

For today’s , we’re so happy to share an update on Nigel! 🐾❤️

Nigel is doing great in his new home, and it sounds like he wasted absolutely no time making an impression on the whole family.

His family tells us that he’s already brought them so much joy, and apparently their dog is completely obsessed with him!

Nigel’s three older feline siblings are still getting used to all of his kitten antics, but everyone is settling into life together.

Thank you to his wonderful family for choosing adoption and giving this little guy such a loving home. And as always, thank you to our volunteers, fosters, donors, and supporters who help make happy endings like Nigel’s possible. ❤️

Happy Tail Alert! 🐾

Caspian & Bridgette are now Bruce & Squeak! ❤️

Bruce earned his new name from none other than Bruce Wayne, while Squeak’s name came straight from one of her adorable little quirks, she squeaks when it’s breakfast time!

Their family tells us these two are doing great, are as playful as ever, and have been such a wonderful addition to their home.

We LOVE getting updates like this and seeing our former kittens happy, loved, and letting all those little personalities shine in their forever homes.

Thank you to Bruce & Squeak’s wonderful family for giving these two their happily ever after!

Hazel & Nellie are STILL waiting 🥺

Another weekend is here, and these adorable 3-month-old sisters are still at Petco Cameron Park hoping someone will walk through those doors and choose them.

Hazel & Nellie are a bonded pair and will be adopted together. Nellie is the curious, affectionate adventurer, while Hazel is a little shyer and loves following her sister’s lead. Give Hazel a little time to warm up, and her sweet, affectionate side comes right out. 🥹

Their siblings have already found homes. Now we really want it to be Hazel & Nellie’s turn.

Clear the Shelters is still going on, and every kitten adoption comes with a FREE goodie bag filled with food and toys to help your new family members get started!

🎤 Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? And bring Checo with you! 😹

Meet Slim Shady and Checo, two ridiculously cute 3-month-old boys looking for forever homes!

Slim Shady is the handsome charcoal boy with those huge, curious eyes; Checo is the black-and-white cutie rocking a tiny mustache that, frankly, deserves its own fan club.

Both boys are neutered, housetrained, and currently in foster care while they wait for someone to choose them.

We're still working hard to find homes for all of the kittens who came through this kitten season, so if you've been thinking about adopting, please give these boys (or any of our waiting kittens) a chance. ❤️

One kitten or two... we certainly wouldn't judge. 👀

We know it’s not Sunday… but we couldn’t wait to share this success story with you! ❤️

Remember Paloma? 🐈‍⬛

We shared this beautiful girl several times while she was waiting for someone to give her the forever home she deserved. Well… look at her now! 😭💕

Lady Paloma, as she’s affectionately known these days, has settled into her new home beautifully. Her family decided to keep her name because they loved it just as much as we did, and they tell us she is an absolute sweetheart. After all those posts asking someone to take a chance on Paloma, getting an update like this makes us so happy. She isn’t waiting anymore: she’s home! ❤️

Thank you to Paloma’s wonderful family for choosing her, and thank you to everyone who shared her posts and helped us get her story out there. You guys are truly what makes the magic happen here at Fat Kitty City!
