Today is National Heat Awareness Day. It's starting to heat up as we enter the summer here in California, so it's important we care for our pets as the temperature rises.
Here are some top tips from us:
+ Be careful walking in the heat of the sun. Put your hand on the sidewalk - if it's too hot to keep your hand on it, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
+ Senior dogs don't regulate their body temperature as well as younger dogs, so keep a careful eye on the older pups.
+Always make sure there is water available if your dog needs a quick drink to stay hydrated.
+ NEVER leave a dog in a hot car. Even a few minutes can be fatal.
+ Watch for signs of heat stroke e.g. vomiting, excessive panting, drooling, lethargy and take action quickly.
We hope you have a safe and fun summer!
