Frankie is definitely a daddy’s girl 🥹😍
Frankie was found when our sanctuary founder, Kristy, her partner, Keelin, and Kristy’s son were heading to Joshua Tree. They had gone off their original route a bit and stopped to switch drivers. All of a sudden, they heard what sounded like screaming and saw three large dogs violently attacking a very small brown dog.
Kristy, Keelin, and nearby neighbors were able to scare the big dogs off, and Kristy and Keelin were able to catch who we now know as Frankie!
She was clearly very injured, and the local shelter was closed for the day. So they made the decision to take her under our care and get her the emergency care she desperately needed. Her vet explained that the shelters in the area are very overwhelmed, so it was likely she would’ve just been euthanized 💔
The neighbors near where she had been found later confirmed that she was a street dog, and her brother had been killed in a car accident. This was not the first time other dogs had attacked her. So it was pretty clear that Kristy and Keelin had gone off route for a reason ♥️
Frankie got to hang out in Joshua Tree for the trip, as she was found on the way THERE, not on the way back 😂 She got to hang out in a tote bag and eat veggie dogs for a few days 🥹🥰
Today, Frankie enjoys the heck out of life at the sanctuary. She’s part of the LBD (little brown dog) club with Toby and Apollo. She is pretty happy to greet most people, but she has a very special greeting bark designated for JUST Kristy and Keelin🥹 she gets a special kind of excited when they get home. They are her heroes! 🦸🏻♀️🦸🏼♂️
