Meet Calypso! This kitten came to us a few weeks ago because her owner noticed she was vomiting. Dr. Fernung diagnosed her with a linear foreign body and took her straight to surgery that afternoon. She actually had to have TWO surgeries to get her guts completely straightened out, but we are happy to report that she has recovered and is doing great at home!

A linear foreign body is an uncommon condition that occurs when an animal eats something like a string (or in Calypso's case, a bunch of hair!). The object, which would normally pass right through, gets "anchored" at some point along the way. As the intestines continue to try and push it along, it can cause excessive "bunching" of the intestines which can lead to holes developing in the intestines from the friction of the object moving through. Needless to say this is a very serious condition, and it can actually be very challenging to diagnose on x-rays. Surgery is complicated and recovery can be long, but Calypso is one of the lucky ones to make it through! We will be so happy to continue watching this little girl grow and thrive!

Some patients just bring JOY. Meet Milo, the happiest dog on Earth. Milo stands out because not only is he ADORABLE (I mean look at that snoot!) but he just had a way of bringing the best energy into the clinic every time he visits! He is a very memorable patient - we all just love him! Everyone stops what they're doing to soak up some of his goodness when he comes in! We are sharing his long nose and derpy smile in hopes he brings a little joy to your Friday!

Meet Birdie! This little cutie had a congenital defect in his leg requiring amputation - you'd never know he had major surgery yesterday! Thanks to Dr. Taylor and her team, Birdie is feeling GREAT today! His only complaint is that there does not appear to be a staff member available to play with him 24 hours a day. Let us know if you'd like to sign up for a baby-cat-playtime shift 😜😸😸😸

UGH!! We are GRUDGINGLY sending Jonah back to college tomorrow! Purdue is lucky to have this young man for the next few years - WE were sure lucky to have him again this summer!! Have a great semester Jonah, you know you are welcome here anytime! ❤️
