Ok I don’t know about anybody else but my most recent round of breedings have not gone my way. I bred three does a while ago to have national juniors 2 of which missed and the other one had 4 kits but they all died, so I tried again recently but at this point I knew they weren’t going to be national juniors but I wanted and needed to get some brood does on babies again. I bred two does, one of the litters I posted she had 5 and 4 of which died but the one that lived is a broken silver marten, the other litter I didn’t post because it went downhill so quickly this doe started my otter program and usually has 4-5 kits and always pulls plenty of hair but this time she only had 2 and one got out of the box somehow then fell out of the cage and I found it dead so naturally then there was one and I was still really excited because other than her mom she is my only other solid black otter but after about a week I went out there and hair was completely wrapped around her foot with the circulation completely cut off, and if you are wondering it takes a solid week or so for the foot to completely fall off, but good news she can still walk perfectly fine. So now 7 kits total and only 2 lived one being a silver marten and the other one only having three feet which last time I checked silver marten wasn’t a recognized color in AFL’s (which it should be because it’s literally an otter but instead of brown-ish tan markings they are white/silver) and you can’t show a rabbit that has 1 less toenail let alone one less foot. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with my convention litters!🤞🏻
However they do both have names:
Sav’s Tripod: Solid Black Otter Doe (I obviously had to name her after the fact that she only has three feet)
Sav’s Marten: Broken Silver Marten Buck (Yes I know very original name😂)
