(Ar)lo you even REAL?! 😍🐾

Because seriously… LOOK AT HIM! 🥹💙

Meet ARLO, the newest little face at Red Door Canines! This handsome Goldendoodle has officially joined our crew, and we are already completely smitten!

Arlo is one of our newest hopeful future breeding prospects, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch him grow and develop! If all goes as planned and he completes his health testing, he’ll eventually have some pretty big paws to fill as he steps into Finn’s role in our program. 🐾

Speaking of Finn… 🥹 Our sweet boy will be retiring soon, and we’ll be giving him the special spotlight he deserves in a post of his own! ❤️

But for now, Arlo’s only job is being ridiculously cute, stealing hearts, and enjoying every minute of puppyhood! ❤️❤️

Welcome to the RDC fam, Arlo! 💙

Some new photos and a little reintroduction! ❤️

I’m Shelley, and alongside my daughter, Sydney, I’m one of the faces behind Red Door Canines. Sydney isn’t pictured here, but raising these puppies is very much a team effort, and I’m grateful we get to do it together.

After spending the past two years focusing on my health so I can be in peak puppy-raising shape, I figured it was time for some updated website photos—ones that look a little more like the me you’ll meet at puppy pickup! 😂🐾

Whether you’ve been here for years or you’re just getting to know us, I’m so glad you’re here. Raising these puppies and getting to know the families who love them is such a special part of our lives. ❤️

UPDATE: Dolly has found her forever family!

She’s been workin’ 9 to 5… and now she’s ready to enjoy the good life! 💗🎀✨

Meet Dolly! Our 10 month old AKC Bernese Mountain Dog has the beauty, the brains, and the manners to match! 💅🏼

With SIX weeks of professional board-and-train under her belt, she’s been putting in the work! She’s also already spayed and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.

Around here, we believe a little extra age comes with a whole lot of extra value! 😉

Now all this girl needs is her forever family to spoil her like the queen she is! Message us for more info! 👑💕

Some pictures just deserve a permanent spot on the feed! 🥹❤️

Fiona, now Lucy, went home to Raleigh last night, and it’s safe to say she’s already made herself right at home! 😂🐾

We think she’s settling into her new life just fine! 🥰

✂️🥜🐶 WHAT IF WHEN YOU SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR DOG MATTERS JUST AS MUCH AS WHETHER YOU DO IT?

Preventing unwanted litters matters. But is it time to rethink HOW we sterilize dogs? Hormone-sparing procedures, including hysterectomy and vasectomy, can prevent reproduction while preserving natural s*x hormones.

🔬 NEW 2026 PEER-REVIEWED RESEARCH

Over 10 years, researchers reviewed records from 56,254 veterinary patients, including 313 dogs with mast cell tumors and 638 tumor-free comparison dogs. The study was accepted for publication in The Veterinary Journal.

🤯 1. TIMING MATTERS!

Dogs spayed or neutered before age 2 had 343% higher odds of a mast cell tumor diagnosis compared with intact dogs. Dogs sterilized after age 2 showed no statistically significant increase.

🐕 2. SIZE MATTERS!

Compared with small dogs, medium dogs had 2.6 times the odds and large dogs 5.2 times the odds.

⚖️ 3. WEIGHT MATTERS!

Overweight dogs had 80% higher odds than dogs at an ideal weight.

🧬 4. BREED MATTERS!

Compared with mixed-breed dogs, American Pit Bull Terriers had 7.5 times the odds and Boxers 3.9 times. Some breed groups were small.

❤️ 5. WHAT ABOUT SURVIVAL?

Neutering status wasn’t significantly associated with survival after surgery. Tumor grade and size were more important predictors.

🔬 WHY MIGHT HORMONES MATTER?

S*x hormones influence immune function and development. Researchers propose that early hormone removal and changes in luteinizing hormone (LH) may play a role, but this remains unproven.

🐾 THE BIG TAKEAWAY

Preventing unwanted litters doesn’t always mean removing hormone-producing organs. It’s time for individualized conversations with veterinarians about WHEN and HOW we sterilize dogs.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something… WOOF! 🐾💍🤍

A few weeks ago, Winnie and Darcie’s favorite humans said “I do,” and of course, these two had to be part of their special day! 🥹

But this one is extra special to our hearts. 🤍 We’ve known Kylie since long before Red Door Canines was even a thing! She worked at my hair salon years ago, so getting to watch her grow, find her person, and experience this kind of happiness is truly so special. Kylie is one of the most deserving women, and seeing her this happy makes my heart SO happy! ❤️

From watching Kylie’s story unfold to seeing our Red Door babies be part of her wedding day, this is one of those full circle moments that means more than words can say.

Congratulations to the newlyweds! Wishing your sweet family a lifetime of love, laughter, and lots of puppy kisses! 🥂🐾
