Well... our hearts have officially melted. ❤️

Today we got a surprise visit from our wonderful Holy Chow! family, Amy & David, who stopped by to restock for their handsome boy, Bane... but they also introduced us to the newest member of their family...

✨ Meet Kai! ✨

Kai is a 13-week-old Dogue de Bordeaux who already tips the scales at 31 pounds! His paws are even bigger than Bane's were at the same age, so we're pretty sure this sweet boy has some serious growing left to do.

And can we just talk about that face?! Those wrinkles. Those eyes. That smile. We were completely smitten the moment he hopped out of the Jeep.

Kai has already pre-joined the Holy Chow! family, and we can't wait to watch him grow alongside big brother Bane. We have a feeling these two are going to be quite the duo!

Bucky was recently diagnosed with Calcium Oxalate Crystals (CaOx) 💔

As much as we love our Holy Chow! recipes, we quickly realized that some of our nutrient-dense ingredients, like spinach, sweet potatoes, and blueberries, aren’t ideal for his specific condition.

While his vet recommended prescription kibble, I just couldn’t bring myself to go that route… so down the research rabbit hole I went 🐇

Today, we made Bucky his very first custom, low-oxalate, human-grade batch, fresh, simple, and made just for him. This batch should last about 5 days, and we’ll be monitoring his progress closely over the next few weeks.

If all goes well, we may be onto something bigger… 👀 A specialty formula for pups like Bucky.

💩 What Your Dog’s P**p Says About Their Health 🐶✨

Let’s be honest… if you have a dog, you’re checking their p**p. (Don’t worry — we all do it 😅)

But did you know your dog’s stool is one of the BIGGEST indicators of their overall health?

Here’s a quick guide to what’s normal — and what’s not 👇

🟤 Dark Brown & Firm (THE GOLD STANDARD)
✔ Easy to pick up
✔ Holds its shape
✔ Not overly smelly

👉 This means your dog is digesting food properly and absorbing nutrients — exactly what we aim for with Holy Chow! 🐾

🟫 Light Brown or Large Stool
⚠️ May indicate lower-quality food or poor absorption
👉 The body is passing more waste instead of using nutrients

💦 Soft or Mushy Stool
⚠️ Could be from diet changes, stress, or sensitivity
👉 Keep an eye on it if it lasts more than 24–48 hours

💧 Diarrhea
🚨 Time to pay attention
👉 Can be caused by illness, bacteria, or something they shouldn’t have eaten

⚫ Black & Tarry (Super healthy p**p can look almost black so look for the Tarry part)
🚨 Call your vet
👉 This can indicate digested blood and should not be ignored

🔴 Red Streaks

👉 Monitor closely or consult your vet
