🐾 From Fighters to Friends 🐾

These two tom (male) cats were spotted fighting.

So our Mission Meow volunteers took action. Humane traps were set, and both boys were safely Trapped and Neutered. Then, they were Returned to their colony where they can peacefully coexist and will no longer be driven by the urge to fight or compete.

This is the power of TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return).
Less fighting. Fewer injuries. Healthier, calmer cats.

🧡 TNR TUESDAY 🧡

😼Big jowls mean it’s time to stop the prowls🐾🐾

Ever notice those handsome tomcats (male cats) with wide faces and chunky cheeks? Those “tomcat cheeks” are called jowls, and they develop in unneutered male cats due to hormones (mainly testosterone). It’s nature’s way of protecting them—those thick cheeks act like built-in armor during fights over territory and mates.

But here’s the reality behind those big cheeks:

🐾 They’re often a sign of an unneutered life
Male cats with jowls are usually driven by strong instincts to roam, mate, and compete—whether they live outdoors or indoors.

🐾 It affects indoor cats too
Even indoor, unneutered males can show hormone-driven behaviors like spraying, yowling, aggression, and trying to escape. They may become stressed, frustrated, or territorial inside the home.

🐾 Fighting and stress are dangerous
Outdoor males often fight each other, targeting the face and cheeks. These fights can lead to painful wounds, abscesses, and the spread of diseases. Over time, repeated injuries and infections can cause long-term illness and serious health complications.

🐾 The cycle continues
One unneutered male can contribute to creating hundreds of kittens over time.

That’s why neutering male cats is highly important—whether through TNR efforts or by taking your male pet cat to the vet for a neuter appointment 💙

✔️ Reduces hormone-driven behaviors like fighting, spraying, and roaming
✔️ Helps prevent injuries, disease, and stress
✔️ Stops the cycle of overpopulation
✔️ Helps both community cats and indoor pets live healthier, more stable lives

😺And yes—those big cheeks may shrink a bit after neutering, but what they gain is so much more: safety, comfort, and a better quality of life.

🧡Tigger & Roo were picked up by there forever family, Adrian and Bianca yesterday we could not be more thrilled about this!

Here’s what they said:

We are so thrilled to have adopted Tigger and Roo officially, and my partner and I are so excited to bring these handsome, lovable boys home!It was so wonderful meeting them yesterday, along with their incredible foster mom Amber and all of their sweet foster siblings. Amber is such an incredible human, and wonderful foster parent - she has such a gift with these cats, and Tigger and Roo are so lucky to have been loved and cared for by her and her family.
It was love at first sight for me from the moment I saw them on the rescue page, and I knew I wanted the chance to meet them and let them decide if I could be their forever home. After our visit, and receiving the stamp of approval from both Roo and Tigger, it was a no-brainer.🥰

One of my closest friends adopted their boys (Merry and Pippin) from Mission Meow. I cat sit Merry and Pippin, and soon, their pawrent will be a sitter for Tigger and Roo-Mission Meow cousins. 😹

Our community of friends, family, and fellow musicians have been Roo-ting for Tigger and Roo (and for us), and are excited to meet them after things have settled. My students are begging me to get a treat camera before the school year ends so they can "meet and treat" Tigger and Roo. They have 947 tiny humans excited to spoil them with snacks! Meanwhile, preparations are underway to ensure maximum safety, comfort, support, spoilage, and the smoothest transition possible into the & ever home.

Sorry to my credit card, but it's time for a Chewy shopping spree! And of course, my partner and I immediately signed up to be monthly donors to help support the continued amazing and crucial work of this rescue.

Thank you, Mission Meow, for everything you do for these wonderful animals, and the biggest of thank yous again to Amber for caring for and raising such sweet, lovable, silly boys!

🐾 Rescue Mission ✈️
One of our volunteers was alerted to a litter of tiny kittens living in an unsafe area at a Mall.

With the help of mall employees and our volunteer Maria, the kittens were safely rescued and brought to safety.

We immediately began searching for foster homes and were able to secure enough placements to take the kittens into our care.
To help get these little ones where they needed to go, our volunteer Deb and her husband, Kurt, our hero pilot, stepped in for a special transport mission. Kurt flew the kittens to our main location, where they were safely distributed to foster families and given the chance to begin their journey toward a brighter future.

We haven't forgotten about the moms. One of the mother cats has already been successfully TNR'd, and we plan to return for the other momma cat. Our goal is to ensure the entire family is safe while helping prevent future litters through spay and neuter efforts.

❤️ It truly takes a village to save lives, and we are grateful to everyone who made this rescue mission possible.

🧡🐾 TNR Tuesday 🐾🧡

⚠️ Warning: This post contains graphic content.

Meet Joseph. ❤️

Joseph was found in our Bush Baby colony, a colony we have been working hard to TNR. One of our dedicated volunteers, Joe, heard tiny cries coming from the bushes and went to investigate. That's when he found this little fighter all alone.

Our volunteers searched the entire colony area but did not find any other kittens.
Joe then brought Joseph to our volunteer Maria, who welcomed him into her care and arranged for a veterinary visit to address his medical needs. Joseph had an infected wound on his neck that required treatment. His tiny belly was very full and full of worms that needed to be addressed.

Thankfully, Joseph is now safe in our care and thriving. His wound has completely healed, and his tummy is no longer full of worms, allowing him to properly absorb the nutrients he needs to grow and stay healthy.

Joseph's story is a reminder of why TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is so important. Life can be incredibly difficult for kittens born outdoors, and sadly, many do not survive.
By supporting TNR efforts, we help break the cycle of suffering and give cats a chance at healthier, safer lives.

Welcome to the Mission Meow family, Joseph. 🐾

plot twist…

our little siamese “boy” is actually a girl 🤍

which is why we haven’t announced the winning name just yet.

when she first came to us, none of that mattered much. she was tiny, grieving, exhausted, and just trying to figure out how to keep going after losing her siblings.

but as she’s gotten stronger, braver, louder, and full of life… we realized something important:

she deserved a name that felt just as hopeful as her story.

the leading name in the contest has been beacon — a symbol of hope and light. and while we still absolutely love that name, there was another name in that same spirit that kept pulling at our hearts for this little girl.

so instead of announcing a winner today…
we think this survivor may have just written her own ending.

stay tuned 🤍

Pip and Squeak are doing great in their new foster home!

This foster home is special because they adopted from me many years ago. I used to petsit for them and now circumstances have enabled them to foster. Thank you Natalie and Clara!

Some stories stay with you forever, and Gem’s will always be one of them. 💎

When we first introduced Gem and her tiny jewels to all of you, these babies had just entered the world. Gem had spent her life surviving near a truck stop, doing everything she could to protect and care for her kittens while never truly knowing safety or comfort herself.

She gave birth to four beautiful girls — Jade, Ruby, Pearl, and Opal — and one sweet little boy, Jasper. From the very beginning, we worried about the odd number of kittens. We wondered if one baby might end up left behind, waiting for their perfect match while the others moved on.

Earlier this week, Gem went home to her forever family — a home where she will spend the rest of her days spoiled, adored, safe, and finally receiving the love and attention she always deserved.

And just as life looked out for Gem, it looked out for her jewels too.

The very first adopter who came to meet the kittens planned to bring home two… but left with three treasures instead: Jasper, Ruby, and Pearl. Just hours later, another family fell completely in love and welcomed Opal and Jade into their home together.

In what felt like the blink of an eye, this little family who once struggled just to survive found everything we could have hoped for them.

Rescue can be exhausting and heartbreaking at times, but moments like this remind us why we keep going. None of this happens alone. It happens because people choose to care. Because fosters open their homes. Because supporters donate. Because adopters say “yes.” Because this community continues to believe that every cat deserves a chance at a safe, loved life.

Mission Meow is so incredibly honored to have been part of Gem’s journey and to witness this family’s story end in love, security, and happiness.

Thank you for helping us make these endings possible. 🖤

Meet Jasper — tiny adventurer, professional troublemaker, and future very large handsome cat. 🧡

This sweet buff tabby boy is curious about absolutely everything and always wants to know what’s going on. If there’s a toy to chase, a room to explore, or another kitten to wrestle with, Jasper is first in line.

He’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly social with both people and other cats. After a busy day of zooming around the house, Jasper is more than happy to curl up for a cozy nap with his siblings or foster kitty friends.

And yes… the paws are truly enormous. We’re all pretty convinced this little guy is going to grow into one very big cat someday.

Jasper has the sweetest personality and the kind of fun, goofy energy that makes people fall in love instantly.

Jasper is neutered, microchipped, litterbox trained, current on age-appropriate vetting, and raised in a private foster home.
