🚨🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTER NEEDED — PLEASE SHARE, LIFE DEPENDS ON IT 🚨🚨

MeBo’s Animal Rescue is located in Haskell County, but we are urgently looking for a foster anywhere from ABILENE to WICHITA FALLS and surrounding areas.

We cover food, supplies, medical and finding a home. 🏠

This young girl approximately a year, is currently loose. And the city is reportedly trying to catch her. We are extremely concerned that she could be euthanized if she is picked up. We need to get her somewhere safe ASAP. Person who has been feeding her has named her guinny.

She is only about 14–16 months old, believed to be a German Shepherd/Pit mix, and may be pregnant. And will be spayed. She has appointment for the 17th and on cancellation list. She is also reportedly covered in ticks.

She is described as very sweet but timid. She scares easily but is not known to be aggressive. She has reportedly done well with other dogs/animals, is potty trained, and is not food aggressive. The person currently feeding her has gained her trust and can catch her for us.

❤️ WE JUST NEED A SAFE PLACE FOR HER TO LAND.

MeBo’s Animal Rescue will cover EVERYTHING she needs while in foster, including food, flea/tick treatment, deworming, heartworm testing/prevention, veterinary care, supplies, and her spay when medically appropriate. We will also handle finding her permanent placement.

The foster does NOT have to pay for her care.

We are currently beyond full and have several more animals already coming into our care, while so many are also in desperately need, our waitlist is long but this is critical, and we cannot ignore a young dog on the street whose life may be at risk.

Even a temporary foster could save her life.

🏠 Rescue is based in Haskell County
🚗 Fosters from Abilene → Haskell/Knox County → Wichita Falls and surrounding areas are welcome!

🚨 PLEASE SHARE THIS POST. WE NEED A FOSTER IMMEDIATELY. 🚨

If you can foster her, please message MeBo’s Animal Rescue ASAP. Or Melissa Scott Or call/text 940-207-2418

We cover the cost. You provide the safe place. Dave a life. ❤️🐾

Estimate doesn’t include meds. We asked for rescue meds for when he has a seizure because we are 30 minutes from regular vet, and an hour from emergency. Plus it’s common to have it. Will keep everyone updated ♥️🐾

Our area is very rural, so most things are far. So since he kept having seizures, and we were in the area of the closest neurologist we decided to get in the last day here.. today. We will keep you updated. 🥹♥️🐾

Sadly buzz hasn’t been doing well and we will likely take him to emergency and neurologist in the morning. (Wednesday.)

And while we’re doing training today for last day, we originally planned to go home today. We’re staying until tomorrow because motel check out is 11 and training ends 2-5? And he has no where to go during that time.

Since we are staying until than we are going to take him to emergency before 7am and hope they can get him into one of the few neuro spots they have a week, from emergency to neuro.

Ironically it’s the closest neurologist for pets to where we live. It’s about 3 1/2 hours from our house and 30 minutes from our training. So thankfully we are already in the area.

We also found out he may of had a symptom of neurological issues for a long time. That most would have never have caught. I believe it’s related somehow. And will talk on that more. He will likely need a MRI. Will keep you all updated.

If anyone would like to donate towards his neurology appointment tomorrow, we are a nonprofit. ♥️🐾

At my training yesterday.. 🙀‼️

This is why spay and neuter is important.

A lot of people only think about the one litter in front of them, but do not think about the future. And what is happening when they don’t. And how many can actually count for. And how every litter affects the community.

And yes, these are very real numbers. I say it often. This is if they all make it which often times they don’t.

Not everyone can afford it, that’s why I have a free spay/neuter in my area. Haskell/jones/knox counties. Our area has a crisis. And I’m seeing animals just completely disappear. 😭

We go through waves of really long waitlists. But we try and take the most high risk first if possible than in order of waitlist. We are doing our very best, and we know that this area needs more. I hope one day that the main towns can do more for the animals.

We are even willing to help. There are free things that can be done to better. And we are willing to do spay and neuter and vaccines for the ones adopted through them. ♥️🐾

Guess what we are doing? Taking an animal control course. Why?

Not because we are becoming animal control, but to know and educate ourselves.

With no shelters around, basically impound lots. (Rural area.) and I believe we’re the only rescue mainly covering this area. We need to know what we can and can’t do, and what is required of others as well.

Animals deserve to be protected and love. They don’t ask to be born. It’s often times people who failed them. Cats and dogs are a community problem. And we have a crisis. 🥹🐾

Not every young kitten comes into rescue wanting love immediately. ❤️

Meet Wanda. 🐈‍⬛

We rescued Wanda and her brother Bubbles when they were about 6–8 weeks old from a property where an elderly friend of mine cares for many cats that have shown up over the years. We’re working tirelessly to get them all fixed, but some are VERY trap-smart. 😅

Wanda and Bubbles were sick and very under-socialized when they came to us. Unfortunately, they also arrived during one of our busiest times. Our intake shed had to temporarily close, we moved cats into the house, and then we had a ringworm outbreak. Every available space was full.

Their basic needs were always met, but what they really needed was something we didn’t have enough of: one-on-one socialization time.

Bubbles came around beautifully and is now the sweetest little guy.

Wanda has been different.

She has been a little nervous of people and much slower to trust. When I pet her, she’ll close her eyes and enjoy it—but as soon as she opens them, she gets scared again. If I reach toward her head, she reacts like she thinks I’m going to hurt her, even though no one here ever has.

So we’ve been taking it slow.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve started bringing her into our bedroom almost every day. She discovered our bed and LOVES making little forts between the pillows where she feels safe. 😂

And lickable treats have been a GAME CHANGER. She’ll walk right up to me for one, lick it off my fingers, and I even put some on my nose once and she licked it off. 😆

But today was HUGE.

For the first time, Wanda came into the bedroom without Bubbles, who she normally depends on for confidence.

I was able to pet her several times without her immediately panicking. I carried her around tucked in my shirt for half an hour. 😂

And then something happened that I have NEVER heard from Wanda before…

She purred. 🥹

Not once. Over and over again. 🥳

Later, I laid down and brought her onto the bed with me. She laid against me while I pet her and continued purring. Then she curled up in my armpit, smelled my face several times, tapped my face with her little paw, and just laid there looking at me.

She was content. ❤️

These are the moments that make rescue worth it.

Wanda isn’t quite ready to go home today, and she’s also recovering from an upper respiratory infection, but after today’s breakthrough, I truly believe she’s getting close.

If anyone is interested in adopting or pre-adopting Wanda, please reach out. We also have several other wonderful kittens looking for homes.

If the others aren’t adopted by Wednesday, some will likely go into a good placement program so we can make room for more kittens desperately needing help.

There are still more kittens at the property Wanda came from. The younger we can get them into foster homes and consistently socialize them, the better chance they have of becoming confident house cats instead of growing up feral outdoors.

Working with under-socialized and feral kittens has always been one of my favorite parts of rescue. Since moving to Texas, though, there is so little animal-welfare support around us that we’ve had to become a little bit of everything. And not much time to do so.

But today, Wanda reminded me why I love this part so much. ❤️🐈‍⬛
