PUPDATE on DASH (fka Max)!!!

“He has truly fit right in and is already a deeply loved and valued member of our family. It feels like he’s been here much longer than a week. He absolutely loves his walks around the community—we’re averaging over three miles a day—and he’s been meeting both human and canine friends along the way. He greets everyone with such openness and sweetness, and he’s getting along beautifully with all.

Dash is a happy boy—silly, playful, and so full of heart. Given his background, it’s especially touching how naturally he gives love and affection. He gets an A++ for cuddling and has quickly become the very best nap partner.

We’re also excited to share that he will be featured as Dog of the Month in the May edition of our community newsletter—he’s already becoming quite the little local celebrity.

Most of all, we are just so grateful. He is such a little love bug, and it’s been a joy to watch him settle in, feel safe, and become more himself with each passing day. You can really see his personality unfolding.

She gives everything to rescue dogs, but she is going through something no mother should ever experience.

This is Becky, one of our rescue partners in Guadalajara.

Becky has dedicated her life to saving dogs—as a matter of fact, Junior, Cayenne (Takis), Loki (Lucas), Rene, Lili, Tia (Tita), Rico (Carlitos), Lo**ta (Violeta), Milo (Valentin), Matias, Lilo, Moxie (Flora), and Edy (Iris) would not be alive today if it weren’t for her.

While Becky spends all her time giving, she has recently lost the most important thing to her: her daughter. We are absolutely heartbroken for her.

“Chico has been everything we didn’t know we needed. I had been searching for a friend for Lani for almost an entire year. When I applied for Henry and you called to let me know nobody had applied to “Elvis” my husband Steve was skeptical. From the first night we brought Chico home we knew it was meant to be. We lost our soul dog Diesel in July 2024. While Chico cannot replace him, he is showing us that he can provide unconditional love like Diesel displayed everyday! Chico and Lani are two chis in a pod! They love each other’s company and love playing together.
He has been the best addition to our family!

On Sunday morning, Teddy (fka Peluche) passed away in his mom’s arms.

This is not new for us, but that doesn’t make it any better. Teddy was rescued from a “home” where he faced constant neglect in Mexico. He then lived in a shelter with 1000+ dogs. When he arrived on Dogtimus Prime two weeks ago, he had finally found his happily ever after. Meeting his family was love at first sight.

Teddy’s family taught him that he could rest and no longer had to fight to survive. It was when he was given the chance to be vulnerable that he revealed the deterioration of his body. It was a shock to everyone—after all, he had the spirit of a puppy. Teddy was lethargic so his family took him to the vet immediately. Scans showed fluid around his heart. The vet was able to remove three cups of fluid from his tiny body. His family was hopeful after his bloodwork was unremarkable that it was just an infection. However, when they tested the fluid, the worst case scenario had occurred: cancer. The vet said the only treatment option would be intense clinical trials, and the chance of recovery would be low.

Teddy looked into his mom’s eyes and told her he was done fighting. He had finally got to experience unconditional love and with that, his life was complete. He spent his entire life so happy to meet anyone who got near him, begging for someone to give him a chance, and someone finally did. He got to leave the Earth knowing he was safe in the arms of the person who loved him the most.

We are devastated by this news, but comforted knowing that Teddy felt nothing but love in his final moments. In just 8 days with his family, he got to experience more love and joy than he had in his entire life.

Unfortunately this is very common for street dogs. We do everything we can to ensure the health of all the dogs we transport but so many of them hide their pain to survive. The rescues on the ground in Mexico face unfathomable losses every single day. Mexican street dogs are constantly exposed to parasites, chemicals, infection, etc. and when they come out of it standing, we feel so lucky.

The reality is, many street dogs can’t be saved but our hope is that they can get a small taste of comfort and love for however long they are with us.

Please keep Teddy’s family in your thoughts because when it’s meant to be, 8 days with a dog can feel like a lifetime❤️‍🩹
