Meet A.S.S. KAT
A.S.S. KAT is Dog Valley’s Automated Surveillance Systems, a robotic mountain lion built by seven different tech companies who all agreed on one thing: if you’re going to make a robot cop, you might as well bolt every scanner known to science onto it. Cameras, ALPR units, Bluetooth sniffers, Wi-Fi harvesters, signal masts, antenna tails, and a forehead laser grid that looks like it’s always one second away from issuing a citation.
Dog Valley’s city council asked for “a modern safety solution.” They expected a camera on a pole. They got a four-hundred-pound surveillance cat that can detect your phone before you remember where you left it. A.S.S. KAT doesn’t walk into a room — it enters your Bluetooth range. It doesn’t look at you — it analyzes your MAC address, your router name, your smartwatch battery level, and your last three failed Wi-Fi passwords.
It has no emotions, but if it did, it would be suspicious, judgmental, and extremely proud of its signal strength. It doesn’t speak; it just emits a polite “beep” every time it detects a new device, which is roughly every tenth of a second.
When A.S.S. KAT shows up, the citizens of Dog Valley don’t run — they spoof their IP addresses, Change their MAC, and hope they don't have a firmware update scheduled.
A.S.S. KAT isn’t evil. It’s just way too good at its job and shredding the 4th amendment, and it never forgets a face, a license plate, or a Wi‑Fi password.
