Flock Sitting MN

09/08/2026

We are hosting an OPEN YARD again this year at our home in Richfield on Saturday October 3rd. And by open yard I mean a day to come meet our ducks/chickens!

For more info including time/location and to RSVP, click here: https://flocksittingmn.com/open-yard

In addition to meeting our flock, the Open Yard will include:
- Touring their coop and run (and forts)
- Playing games/winning prizes (the ducks can also win)
- Local resources, rescues, and artists
- Meeting fowl owners and learning about raising ducks/chickens

P.S. We are thinking about busting out the Sega or Nintendo with some duck-themed games as well as working on some door prizes, so we will probably have some more things to add by the time the 3rd rolls around.

Attracting flies and eating flies

We got our last round of summer duck encounters in last weekend! We always have a blast introducing our flock to new people, and the ducks have learned that a quilt on the ground means good news for their bellies.

The more boring side of flock sitting (emails) isn’t so boring with these goobers running around now.

Here are Einstein (Barred Rock) Golden Chicken (Buff Orpington) and Muppet (confirmed descendant of Beaker) enjoying getting their coop freshened up earlier this month before we all started to melt!

Another hot weekend (and week ahead) for Twin Cities’ flocks. Our ducks were visited by two families today and showered with treats and hugs before getting some front yard nap time in by their splash pad! 🦆🦆🦆🚿

We had a very busy week of Flock Sitting. We cared for over 80 chickens across 12 flocks. In our opinion, there’s no better way to escape the heat than to hang out in the shade with some very sweet ladies.

We've gotten to hang out and care for this flock of 3 in Saint Paul (Rosie, Mili Rose, and Danielle) and watched them grow up as inside chickens and make the big transition to outdoor chickens. It's been fun to see their personalities and socialization develop!

Another nice week of spring weather for our May 'Duck Encounters'!

To be fair, in the ducks' opinion, "nice weather" includes everything from cool, sunny days to day-long rain storms. Basically, every day is a great day to be a duck!

Starting off the first weekend in May with nice weather and some duck encounters. Pele and Koloa are our newest flock members and now know that blankets + visitors = treats.
