I would like to talk about staining around puppies eyes for a moment. The. “Staining” around puppies eyes when they are here with us it’s not from tear stains. It is from the puppies constantly licking each other which puppies do. They do it when they are playing, after eating or drinking and they do it out of affection. Porphyrins are an enzyme in dog saliva. They contain iron, which therefore makes staining around puppies faces when their siblings are constantly licking each other!
Once your Puppy goes home, any staining will grow out and will not come back!! so if you see it in pictures, do not think that this is permanent. We have had many puppies go home and I tell their owners that it will go away and it does! Every time! I am attaching some pictures below of Cavapoo puppies that had staining when they went home and as their hair grew, the staining went away!!
I just wanted to clarify this for everyone!! We do bathe the puppies about once every week and a half as to not dry out their skin. And when I do cut that section with scissors so that their hair is not in their eyes. But once they start licking each other, it comes back. So fear not… the staining will subside once they are not being licked to death by their siblings! 😊😊😊
