Ever seen a unicorn? Ok I donā€™t have one, but this is Pepper. She did something never documented in the Harlequin breed before. Last year she birthed Quads and all 4 survived. šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘. Not only that, she produced 3.5 inch wool while doing it.

Sheā€™s bred for next springs lambs. What will this year bring?

New feeders!

Happy Sheep once they figured it out. I had always used a feeder made from an old plastic culvert. It was at ground level. It held water, and allowed them to butt heads over their ā€œturfā€. By raising the feeder, none of that. These are 10 feet long and pretty well built. Picked them up today. Since the food was off the ground they were confused for a minute, but figured it out pretty quickly.

Day 20 and thatā€™s 22 ewes marked. Waiting to see if we have any ewes cycle again.

Babydoll Gale had blue eyes now theyā€™ve turned more yellow.
F2 Velvet was the very 1st lamb born at Holland Hilltop Sheep. Early January birth, -9 degrees, nothing like learning quickly.
Gen A Persephone, a KidKat girl has haunting blue eyes.
Gen A Starfire, from the Memphis zoo, is a twin to Memphis my ram.
Gen C Rocket, Black Sparrow Ranch ram. The heart and soul of the herd. Not as approachable right now, but as soon as breeding season is over, heā€™ll be his normal gentle self.

There are many more out there. It takes varied genetics to create a herd.

Holland Hilltop Sheep produces all levels of Harlequin Sheep. F1BD to AP, every one contributes to my herd and the health and growth of the breed.

1 hold out. This was a ewe in with my ram lamb, he did mark the other ewe who was with him. Also only day 16, so there is time.
21 marked ewes. Weā€™ll see if any cycle again. 22 in 17 days would be a bit hectic.
