🐾 A Chance to Give Back to Someone Who Gave So Much 🐾

For three years, one dedicated and compassionate man was part of a team of 2 who worked tirelessly to raise the funds needed to help build our animal shelter, creating a safe refuge for countless animals in Putnam County. Because of his hard work and generosity, thousands of animals have had a second chance at life.

Now, he and his family need our help.

Due to his father’s declining health, they are faced with the difficult decision of finding a loving new home for their beloved 15-year-old Yorkie, Maggie.

Don’t let her age fool you; Maggie is a sweet, spirited little girl who still has plenty of energy and personality. She loves being around people, knows exactly when it’s mealtime, and isn’t shy about letting you know when she’s hungry! Most importantly, she deserves a comfortable, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by care and affection.

This is an opportunity for our community to support someone who has spent years supporting the animals we all care about.

🚨 IMPORTANT SHELTER UPDATE 🚨

Due to a confirmed case of Panleukopenia in one of the kittens currently in our care, we are taking every precaution necessary to protect the cats and kittens at our shelter.

Effective immediately, Putnam County Animal Shelter is CLOSED to cat, kitten, and momma cat intake until further notice.

This decision was not made lightly, but the health and safety of the animals already in our care must come first. Panleukopenia is highly contagious and can spread rapidly, especially among kittens and unvaccinated cats. Our team is working diligently to isolate exposed animals, deep clean affected areas, and monitor all cats closely.

At this time, we ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this situation. If you find a stray cat or kitten, please reach out to local rescues, foster networks, or veterinary clinics for guidance until we are able to safely resume intake.

We know this may be frustrating, but these precautions are necessary to prevent further illness and protect the lives of the vulnerable animals currently in our shelter.

Please keep our cats, kittens, staff, and volunteers in your thoughts as we work through this. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information.

🐾❤️ What an incredible day at Paws & Pistons!

Today was filled with wagging tails, happy hearts, and so much love for our shelter dogs. We had several pups receive attention, treats, and cuddles, and best of all—one of our longest residents, Maverick, finally found his forever home! 🏡❤️

A huge thank you to Hailey for putting together such an amazing event and helping shine a spotlight on the animals in our care. Your hard work made a real difference. Thank you as well to everyone who came out, loved on our dogs, shared their stories, and supported our shelter.

Days like today remind us why we do what we do. Every adoption, every share, every belly rub matters. 🐶✨
