Smokey and the Bandit, ranch edition. 🐴🐴

Happy FriYay, humans!

So we have some news! Two new ponies moved in this summer and honestly we can’t stop staring at them. That’s Bandit on the left, the bay and white one.

Smoky’s on the right, and he’s 36 inches tall, which is about hip height on a grown-up. They’re both tiny, Bandit’s just a touch bigger.

We did not need ponies. We bought them anyway. Nobody here regrets it.

Here’s the thing though, they’ve been hanging out with grown-ups and big horses for weeks now and we think they’re ready for some smaller friends. 🥰 So if you’ve got kids (or grandkids, or you’re just a big kid yourself, no judgment), come up in November and meet them. It’s quiet up here that time of year and it’s really, really pretty.

Oh, and we’ve had a few rooms open up for the last week of October too, if you want to sneak in a little mountain time before Halloween.

We always encourage digital disconnection here at the ranch especially in dude ranch season. In the off-season, though, sometimes you need a space to get away from the distraction of the world and be able to get focused on creativity.

Update for disc golfers.

DISC GOLF COURSE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY 26th OCTOBER.
Closed for weddings and private ranch guests who will be shooting and doing archery on property.

ALSO! NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ANYMORE.

Due to multiple people being disrespectful, having their dogs off leash, and giving us attitude when asked to put their dogs on leash, and multiple instances with horses being spooked and our ranch dogs being attacked, there are no dogs allowed on this course anymore.

I know that's disappointing, but you can blame your fellow disc golfers for their disrespect and rudeness when it comes to this matter.

Quick heads up: our Disc Golf course is currently CLOSED on all Saturdays, due to trail rides for beginers on our property.

A few important things we ask while you're here:
1. This is a 100% no-smoking property — no exceptions.
2. There is a complete and total fire ban across the county right now. No sparks, no flames, no fire of any kind.
3. Please don't drive through the red gate into the property.
4. Check the signage at hole one (near the road) for any important updates.
5. If you hear gunshots, do not enter the main property and do not play past hole 5 — we've got a shooting range running for our guests.
6. Do not throw discs near horses or anyone on horseback. Give them plenty of room.
7. NO DOGS or Pets

Wednesday was Phoenix Day for the whole STR Crew. Phones went into a basket first thing and nobody saw them again until that night.

Late in the afternoon we told the Crew to go and get changed. That was all we told them.

They walked up to the rec barn and found Wim Hof coach Jesse and a tub of ice water. 🥶

Every one of them got in.

Next week we'll tell you what Phoenix Day actually is. 😉

There's no clever way to say this. You get on a horse in the morning, you ride out into the forest for a few hours, you come back and eat, you do it again. Nothing else happens. That's what people come back for. 🫶
