Steven Brooks Art My Name is Steven Brooks I am an artist from Maine. I use recycled materials to make mostly wildlife based work. Thanks for supporting my work

My art is a release of creation, fueled by constant creative thinking and searching. Recycled and found materials give me the artistic freedom to take chances and pushes my art into places that always surprise me. Our individual ideas and perceptions of wildlife gives me great inspiration. Sometimes I view my process as making heavy balloon animals or with my fish, taxidermy without the loss of life.

“Stripes” recycled wood, found/hybrid materials and acrylic 47”x 21”

This is my 1st Striped Bass it’s a special one to me: the piece of wood that makes up the body I salvaged from my childhood home in Casco ME. I pulled out the nails and thought to myself that the last person to touch them was my dad years ago when he installed them in our dining room. With him being gone, it brought be a lot closer to the material and was happy to use it here.

This piece is also special as I’m honored to share it with the 2nd Annual ASGA Bass Bash 9/25 at Rising Tide Brewing Company in Portland ME as part of their auction for the Salt Water Guide Association Striper initiative. Extremely grateful to Soul Fly Co, Tim at Oxbow Brewing and all involved for the opportunity to share my art.

Friday 9/25 from 6pm -9pm I’ll have the honor of being at Rising Tide Brewing Company as part of the 2nd Annual ASGA Bass Bash, an evening of Art and Advocacy in Portland, ME supporting Striped Bass. I’ll have some new fish art with me as well as donating a large Striped Bass for their auction. Hope to see some of you there.
