And the thing is

Normal looks different for every single animal.

One dog might spin in circles when they’re excited. Another might quietly grab a toy and sit nearby. One cat may hide for the first few minutes of a visit, while another runs to the door like they’ve been waiting all day.

The important part isn’t comparing them to other pets.

It’s knowing their patterns.

Because when you spend time with a pet consistently, you start noticing the little things:

Dogs need exercise, but physical activity is only one piece of the puzzle.

Mental stimulation. Sniffing new scents. Predictable routines. One-on-one attention. Confidence-building experiences. Time to decompress.

Some dogs come home exhausted after an hour at the dog park, but they're overstimulated instead of relaxed. Others are perfectly content after a calm walk where they had plenty of time to sniff, explore, and simply be a dog.

Every pet is different, and great care isn't about doing the most; it's about giving them what they need.
