🌿🍄 Meet our little woodland babies: Mushroom, Fern, Stump & Twig! 🍄🌿
Every one of these babies was found outside with no mama in sight. Mushroom was found on his own, while Fern, Stump and Twig are siblings found in another area of town. Right now, they are all at different stages of learning one very important lesson: humans might actually be pretty great. 😂
🍄 MUSHROOM | About 9 weeks old
Mushroom earned his name because he was found all alone in the woods down by the river, just like a tiny little mushroom growing on the forest floor. 🥹
He is still figuring out this whole indoor cat thing. His feral instincts tell him to SCUTTLE! HIDE! DISAPPEAR UNDER THE FURNITURE! But put him on your lap, start loving on him, and the purr motor turns on. ❤️ He is learning that affection feels pretty darn good, even if he is not quite ready to admit that humans have won.
🌿 FERN | About 7 weeks old
Fern is currently a tiny, spicy woodland fairy who would like everyone to please keep their hands to themselves. 😂 She and her brother Stump are still firmly in the “I DO NOT KNOW YOU, SIR” stage of socialization.
She has some work ahead of her before she is ready to trust us, but that is okay. We have time, patience, snacks, and absolutely no intention of giving up on her. ❤️
🪵 STUMP | About 7 weeks old
Stump is Fern’s grumpy little brother, and frankly, he has some complaints about his recent change in living arrangements.
People? Suspicious.
Hands? Suspicious.
Affection? HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS.
Stump is still very much a feral little dude and is not ready to let his guard down yet. For now, we are letting him learn at his own pace that nobody here is going to hurt him.
🌱 TWIG | About 7 weeks old
And then there is Twig.
Twig watched Mushroom getting loved on and thought:
“WAIT. THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN!! ME NEXT!!”
And that was pretty much that.
You would NEVER guess this baby was living outdoors just a week ago. Once he realized that humans provide pets, cuddles, and attention, he decided this indoor cat business might actually be an excellent arrangement.
❤️ None of these babies are ready for adoption just yet. They need some time to grow and, especially for our spicier members of the woodland crew, learn that humans are friends.
We will keep everyone posted as they make progress. For now, Mushroom is cautiously accepting his new life, Twig has joined Team Human, and Fern and Stump would like us all to kindly mind our own business. 🌿
Thank you to the kind human families who got these babies to safety!!
