Leanne is estimated to be about 8+ years old and weighs 8.8lbs. She is a domestic medium hair that is as sweet as can be! She was found as a stray that wandered up to a citizen’s property and the citizen brought her into the shelter. Leanne was never reclaimed.

She also has several patches of fur that are missing above her tail and on her sides. A spay tattoo was found on the inside of her inner thigh. She did have fleas on her and was given a Capstar.
Leanne loves back and belly rubs and will thank you by rubbing her head against you.
Leanne does not mind canines. For her canine test, she was okay with them being around her. She will let them come up to her and check her out. She prefers to watch from a distance.

RESCUED BY MITCHELL MILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL RESCUE INC

Meet Elsa!
She is an 8-year-old, 22-pound, Beagle mix who needs a rescue commitment. 🐾
🏠 Elsa was brought to the shelter as an owner surrender because her previous owner was no longer able to care for her. According to her surrender paperwork, Elsa has primarily lived outdoors and is good with both people and other dogs. She was current on her vaccines at the time of surrender.
Upon intake, Elsa was noted to have significant tartar buildup on her teeth and will likely need a dental. She was also started on doxycycline to help treat symptoms of an upper respiratory infection.
Although Elsa is an older girl, she still has a playful side and enjoys playing with toys! She is also very affectionate when she opens up to you and loves to receive back rubs.
🐾 Meet ELSA! 🐾
During her dog test, she met the other dog with a happy attitude of, “Oh hey, we’re friends!” and was ready to go explore. She really did not pay much attention to the other dog.
During her feline test, the cat was very friendly and even rubbed against Elsa, and Elsa remained completely comfortable and did not mind having the cat as her little friend.

Update 8.29.26- Rescued by Charleys K-9 Rescue

🐾 Meet ROLLY ! 🐾
ROLLY is an estimated 5+ year-old BULLY, that weighs 45.2lbs.
Rolly was picked up as a stray by one of local agencies and was never reclaimed. Upon intake, it was noted that he was missing fur and his feet were swollen. He also had possible ear infections and his eyes were runny.
Rolly was taken to the veterinarian for further examination. The veterinarian noted the following: A grade!=1=I/VI systolic murmur-left sided. Moderate dental tartar. Severe generalized lichenfication, hyperpigmentation, alopecia, odor crusting of skin. Severe generalized dermatitis, furunculosis, pododermatitis, Otis-suspected secondary to demodicosis. He was given Cephalexin as an antibiotic for the skin, Ketoconazole for a skin antifungal, Miconahex= Triz shampoo , Prednisone as an anti-inflammatory and and Oti-pack E Ear Ointment. Vet recommends a recheck in 2 weeks.
Rolly is a very sweet canine that loves to have his back and belly rubbed. He will paw at you when you stop for more affection! He will walk on a leash but currently it is uncomfortable for him to walk. He loves to have a soft blanket to snuggle with and he loves treats!
During his dog test, Rolly did great! He was like: “ Oh, Hey! Another dog!” and was ready to receive more affection from his human friends. We did not do a feline test because of his discomfort of walking. But one can be done if a rescue is interested in him.
Our shelter is currently full, and Rolly is need of rescue!

UPDATE 8.31.26-RESCUED BY MITCHELL MILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL RESCUE INC

🐾 Meet Belle! 🐾
Belle is an estimated 6-year-old Shepherd mix weighing 64.4 pounds.
Belle was picked up as a stray by one of our Animal Control Officers and was never reclaimed. Upon intake, it was noted that her front teeth are broken and worn down. She also had a patch of missing hair above her tail with a soft mass underneath. The mass did not appear to be painful when touched.
Belle was taken to the veterinarian for further examination. The veterinarian aspirated the mass above her tail and was able to obtain blood. Based on the findings, the veterinarian believes the mass could possibly be a hemangioma or hemangiosarcoma. They are unable to determine more without removing the mass and performing further testing.
Despite her medical concerns, Belle is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She loves receiving and giving affection and enjoys spending time with people. While at the shelter, Belle has been very friendly with every canine and human friend she has met.
During her dog test, Belle did very well. She was happy to meet a new friend and was ready to continue about her day.
During her feline test, she did not pay the cat much attention. She was aware the cat was in the room and respectfully let the cat be.
Our shelter is currently full, and Belle is need of rescue!

Update- 8/27/26- Rescued by Triad Golden Retriever Rescue

🐾 Meet Hope! 🐾

Hope is a sweet 6-year-old, 68.8-pound Golden Retriever mix who is in need of a rescue. Hope was found on the side of the road by a concerned citizen who believed she may have been hit by a car. She was transported to the shelter and then taken to our local veterinarian for examination. Upon intake, Hope was noted to have several cuts on her face and the side of her body. She was also very lethargic, had swollen and crusty ni***es around her mammary area, and was suffering from a severe flea and tick infestation.
Hope was kept overnight for observation and examination. She received fluids and electrolytes and was started on doxycycline. Since she has returned from the animal hospital she has been alert and eating. We have not noticed anything concerning. We are also waiting for more information from the vet, which we can share as soon as we receive it.
Despite everything she has been through, Hope is an incredibly sweet and loving girl. She loves being by your side and receiving pets and will happily follow you wherever you go. She walks very well on a leash and is very gentle and easygoing.
During her feline test, Hope was initially a little unsure when the cat began scratching the chair, but she gave the cat space and was respectful of her.
During her canine test, Hope was very friendly and outgoing and was happy to meet a new dog. She did very well during the introduction.
Hope has shown us just how sweet and resilient she is, and we would love to see her get the second chance she deserves.

Update- 9/1/26- Rescued by Paw-Fect Match Rescue and Rehabilitation

Meet Bonita! 🐾
Bonita is a 1-year, 7-month-old Great Pyrenees mix weighing 58 pounds. She came to our shelter as a stray after a citizen reported a very hungry mama dog seeking shelter on their property. She had recently given birth and was trying to get food from their dogs. A trap was going to be set, but thankfully, she was able to be safely caught on the citizen’s porch and brought to the shelter.
Bonita is the proud mama of 6 puppies, and she has been an amazing mom to them. Her litter consists of 5 females and 1 male.
When Bonita arrived, she was very skittish and extremely thin. She also had several scratches and cuts, along with some bald spots near the side of her tail.
Bonita is a very shy girl who is still learning that people can be trusted. She is unsure of affection and treats, but if you move slowly and give her time, she will come over, lick your hand, and lay down beside you. She wants to be close to you—she just isn't quite sure what to do with all that love yet.
She is learning to walk on a leash and is doing well, walking right beside you.
Dog Test: Bonita was initially scared and laid down when meeting another dog. She allowed the other dog to sniff her, and after a little time, she relaxed and seemed much more comfortable.
Cat Test: Bonita was unsure of our young feline friend but mostly ignored her. After the test, the cat approached Bonita, and she happily sniffed her without showing much interest in interacting further.
Bonita is such a sweet, gentle girl who is unsure of almost everything, but she continues to show us that she is willing to accept human interaction when given patience, kindness, and time.
Please help Bonita! Our shelter is FULL!

Update 8/17/26- Rescued By FAITH HOPE AND LOVE ANIMAL RESCUE OF NC

Meet Bear! 🐾
Bear is an estimated 5-year-old, 67.8-pound Doodle mix who came to the shelter as an owner surrender after the person caring for him was no longer able to keep him following the passing of his previous owner. He came to the shelter with another dog, Bailey.
Upon intake, we noticed that Bear has some matting around his ears and feet. He is also heartworm positive.
Bear can be a little shy when he first meets new people, but give him a few treats and a little encouragement, and you'll start to see his sweet personality shine! When he gets nervous, he likes to walk in little circles, but he does well and continues to warm up with patience. He is not sure about toys and hasn’t shown any interest in them.
Dog Test: Bear was a little shy but was accepting of making a new friend.
Cat Test: Bear was interested in the feline but ultimately didn't pay much attention to our little friend.
Overall, Bear is a sweet boy who loves treats and going for walks!
