Gwendolyn has a lot to say, and she’d appreciate it if you’d listen. 🗣️👂

She chirps. She trills. She comments on things. 🎶 Walk into the room and you’ll get a full greeting, and if you answer her she’ll keep the conversation going as long as you’re willing. 💬 For a girl who started out shy, finding her voice has been the loveliest thing to watch. 💕

Gwen has beautiful shiny soft black fur adorned by mysterious golden eyes and a grande fluffy tail, which she likes to show off as she prances about very daintily. 🐾✨ One of her most favorite things is being brushed. 🪮 She melts. 🫠 She leans into pets and purrs like a small engine, and she’ll climb into your lap for a while before hopping down to go supervise something else. She likes affection served in comfortable doses, and she’s very clear about what she wants, which honestly makes her easy to live with. 🖤

She’ll start her morning with some chirping for her breakfast — wet food a must 🍽️ — then, when she’s done, she makes a beeline for the screen porch, where she chirps with the local birds and squirrels. 🐦🐿️ Afterwards, she’s ready for a sunny window perch, or a fluffy bed,

She’s a wet food girl, a devoted Churu enthusiast, and she takes catnip very seriously. 🌿 Her playful side is where the confidence really shows: string toys, springs, tunnels, and laser zoomies at full tilt. ⚡

If you’ve never adopted a black cat, consider this your invitation.🖤🏡 Black cats are consistently the last ones chosen and the longest ones waiting, which has nothing to do with the cats and everything to do with a silly old superstition.🚫🔮

A few things about her fit, so she lands somewhere right. 🎯 Gwen may be a little hesitant at first and needs time and patience with new people ⏳, so she does best with someone who lets her come to them first. 🐾 She isn’t a fan of rough play or wrestling with cats or humans 🙅‍♀️, and she prefers to be held for shorter stretches but learning to rather enjoy it. 🤗 She would do well with children but would do best in a home without dogs 🚫🐕.

Her litter box habits are impeccable, and she’s fully up to date on all her vaccines and routine care. ✅💉

She’s also selective about which cats she likes, which is exactly why Gaia matters. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ The two were rescued together and already know and trust each other, so adopting them as a pair means Gwen will never have to rebuild that trust from scratch. 💕 That said, pairing isn’t required — Gwen would do just as well as an only cat, too.

Gwendolyn has come a remarkably long way, and she’s ready for the last step. 🐾🏠

The first thing to know about her is that she is very, very good at joy. ✨🐾

Hand her a string toy and she comes alive. Flick on a laser and she is a blur of orange and white across the room. She’ll chase a ball tracker until it gives up first, roll around in catnip like she just won the lottery 🎉, and wrestle a feline friend with total, gleeful abandon. She does all of this with one eye, and it has never once slowed her down — she judges distance fine, catches what she’s after, and gives the whole thing a look that’s 100% her own signature move. 😻

The second thing to know is that Gaia chooses to be near her people, always. She’ll settle in beside you on the bed, supervise you while you cook (quality control is important 🍳), and watch you put on your shoes with pure intrigue. 👀 She wants to be in on your day. And she is deeply, unapologetically food motivated — a Churu or a tossed treat gets you her complete and undivided attention, instantly. 🍗

Gaia is still learning that hands mean love. She’d rather come to you than be reached for, picking her spot a few feet away and settling in there like she’s choosing the best seat in the house — which, to her, is next to you. 🛋️ That closeness is her affection, offered on her own terms. She’s already come a long way, and every day she chooses to be near you is a little victory worth celebrating. The right person for Gaia is someone who finds real joy in going slow, because the trust she offers, once earned, is going to be so worth it. 🤍

What she absolutely needs is another cat. 🐈‍⬛🐈 This is where Gaia finds her confidence, and she’s at her best living with one — sleeping curled up against them, playing chase until they’re both wiped out. Her favorite cat is Gwendolyn; the two were rescued together and have been an inseparable duo ever since. 💞 Adopting them together isn’t required, but it would be a very sweet bonus for two besties who already know a good thing when they have it.

Gaia hasn’t been around children, but would likely do well with older, respectful kids who know how to give a cat her space. A quiet, dog-free home is her happy place — somewhere she can feel safe, settle in, and be her joyful self. 🏡🚫🐶

Esperanza leads a vibrant life, and she's excited to share her daily schedule with you! 🐾📆

Morning Routine: Each day begins with purrs that are perfect for coaxing you out of bed for breakfast.🥣 Once she’s done munching, it’s straight to the screen porch for some serious bird and squirrel watching. She’ll meow until you open the door, and for an hour, she’s all about that wildlife action! 🐦🐿️

Midday Mischief: Prepare for tunnel time! 🎉 She zooms through her tunnels like a rocket, and if you dangle a feather wand, she’ll clear furniture in pursuit! 🪶 And let’s not forget the infamous red dot—she's never caught it, yet her determination never wavers. 🔴 Her signature game? Peek-a-boo with a twist of cat and mouse 👀🐭 She loves when you hide behind doorways, peeking around the corner, until you get her attention and she dashes in for the chase, then she flips the script and takes on the role of the pursuer, the fun goes back and forth! What a clever kitten! 🐱

Afternoon Naps: When nap time rolls around, you’ll find her snuggled in one of her fluffy beds, often in positions that defy comfort, or stretched out in the cozy window hammock. 😴💤

Evening Socials: As evening sets in, Esperanza is the social butterfly at heart!🦋 She adores rubbing affectionately against her feline friends, her little tabby tail swishing in delight. When you're watching TV, she’ll curl up beside you, all snuggled in like it was the plan all along. 📺 And oh, she has a serious weakness for Churus—you’ll see her chase a tossed treat across the room like a pro!

A Heart of Gold: Esperanza is generous with her love but takes her time with new folks.☝️💖 She’s a wise little gal who sizes you up before deciding you’re worthy of her affection. Once she chooses you, prepare for a bond that lasts a lifetime! 🥰

Perfect Match: She’ll do great with gentle kids, but dogs? Not her style. 🐕🚫 Esperanza is a litter box champion—perfect habits, fully up to date on her vaccines and care!

The crisis is real and you can help!👇

The situation is dire!

So many cats and kittens are in danger of losing their lives, healthy beautiful kitties just because there is no where for them to go. Shelters are closing their doors because they are full, rescues are overwhelmed and have no more foster space, and responsible people have no options for help.

From our director, the person who has to say, "We have no room to take cats and I don't know what to tell you to do".
"I cannot even begin to tell you all that is happening and how truly horrible and heart wrenching things are right now for cats and kittens everywhere. We are getting over a hundred calls, emails, texts, and messages a week from people begging, literally crying and asking us to help - to take beautiful cats and kittens, to help, to offer anything we can. It's excruciating to hear. These are good people who stepped up and have tried to save lives but don't have the time, the knowledge, the resources, or the ability needed."
We're getting calls from all over North Carolina and neighboring states. The situation is the same everywhere.
Sadly there is no foster space. We can only take as many cats and kittens as we have foster space for them.

What you can do:
- If you are thinking of adopting now is the time. For every cat adopted another can be saved.
- If you haven't thought of adopting, think about it. You would be saving lives.
- If you are wanting to help your community and care for animals, volunteer.
- Fosters are always needed but volunteers are need in other capacities also.
- Even if just for the summer you can help.
- Donate. Funds and supplies are needed to support the kitties. Purr Partners receives no government funding. Everything comes from donations.
- If you are a company or organization that can help with sponsorship let us know.
- Spread the word. Let others know how dire the situation is. Encourage everyone to do something as they are able.
- Educate. Support Trap Vaccinate Neuter and Return. TVNR. It's the only thing that works to address the cat overpopulation problem.

When she’s done exploring, Esperanza loves curling up for a cozy nap in a sunny window or snuggling into a soft blanket. ☀️🛏️
