Pulled out a few deep red colored ghost mantises to be auctioned tonight on palmstreet. Looks like 3 girls and 1 boy. Colors are not a guarantee to stay from molt to molt but by this size (L4) it’s usually a good indicator of what they’ll be with this species. Make sure you check us out at 8:00 and get into these auctions!

Nevermind the water spots… I love catching the ladies in action. That’s looking like a decent size ooth from such a beautiful ghost mantis. Can’t wait to meet the babies in 4-6 weeks!

I was feeling a little bummed not to bring my bugs to the expo in Belleville tomorrow but it looks like the bug gods had different plans to keep me busy… Kenyan Flower Mantis yesterday and Ghost, Giraffe and Jeweled Flower Mantises hatching today!

One of my favorite things with owning tarantulas is catching them at the beginning of a molt. Here’s a time-lapse of my Acanthoscurria geniculata (Brazilian Whiteknee Tarantula) molting overnight. This is one of my favorite species I own. She’s always on display, has a great food response and is quite docile.
