Time to kick it up a notch! A fresh delivery of captive bred tarantulas has arrived! If you see a label that interests you or just want more info please send me a DM.

If I don’t reply quickly it’s because I’ll be busy putting these babies into new homes for a while tonight!

Set up a few new isopod and millipede bins last night. In total I have almost 30 species that I’m working with now but I’m most excited to have gotten my hands on some ember bees. Aren’t they beautiful?!?

Mantises aren’t the only thing that creeps around here. Today I want to highlight Lasiodora parahybana, the Salmon Pink Birdeater Tarantula. I recently acquired a few juveniles and one of the males molted last night, giving him back a full abdomen of hair and expanding him to around a 6” legspan.

Also pictured are a mostly bald female and a sling. The 3 juveniles I have each arrived bald like this, which isn’t entirely uncommon. The bald abdomen is due to the urticating hairs they throw as a defense mechanism. My freshly molted male was already creating clouds of hair just from me bothering him to pull his molt and take a few pictures.

The sling pictured has been in my personal collection since it was smaller than a dime last fall and will remain in my collection but these two juveniles and one other female are available if you’re interested. Send me a PM for more info.

Mantis love doesn’t always look pretty. I guess she decided she wanted her boyfriend more than the cricket she was munching on. And she didn’t even give him the chance to get the job done first!

One more molt and this beautiful candy mantis will have her wings. I was able to count segments today and confirm s*x. She’s the most mature of my candies so hopefully I’ve got a boy following somewhere not far behind her.

She wouldn’t open up to show me her colors this morning so hopefully I can get a better pic of her later.

Step one is done. Now this little jeweled mantis just needs to get away from the new queen without losing his head!

It’s always fun catching babies emerging. This is the third of six Kenyan Flower Mantis ooth I have. The hatches may be small but with a little TLC we’ll have a nice colony to breed once all these nymph grow up!
