I’m sure some people have wondered why I haven’t been posting as frequently or responding to every voicemail and message about Ace. I wanted to take a moment to explain.

Even when I don’t respond, please know that I see your messages, I read the tips, and I genuinely appreciate every single person who continues to think about Ace and help us look for him. If you haven’t heard back from me, oftentimes it’s because I’ve already received and responded to the same tip from someone else. I simply don’t always have the time or emotional capacity to respond individually to multiple messages about the same information.

This year has been one of the most difficult years of my life. I’m balancing being a mom, running a small business, working as a mental health therapist, and navigating physical health struggles within our family. Some weeks, I’m simply emotionally tapped out. There are days when I don’t have the energy to answer messages, make another post, or explain where things stand.

And on top of everything else, there is the grief of missing Ace.

I’m angry that this is our life now. I’m angry that we weren’t the ones who lost him, yet we’re the ones who have had to live with the repercussions every single day. I’m angry that we’ve exhausted ourselves trying to find him, only to make no progress.

It’s frustrating. It’s heartbreaking. And some days, it’s just exhausting.

I also understand that not everyone will agree with how I’m balancing everything right now, and that’s okay. You don’t have to understand every decision I make or how I choose to spend my time and energy. I’m doing the best I can, one day at a time, while trying to keep our family, my work, and our lives moving forward while carrying the weight of Ace being missing.

This is our reality now. Ace is still missing, and as long as there is a possibility that he is out there, we will continue to look for him.

So if you’ve sent a message, shared a post, kept an eye out, checked a shelter, followed up on a lead, or simply thought about Ace… thank you. Even when I don’t have the capacity to respond, it does not mean your effort goes unnoticed or unappreciated.

We are still here. We are still looking. And we still want Ace home. 🤍

💔 This isn’t the update I was hoping to make.

The dog I previously posted about who was found in Indianapolis does not appear to be Ace. I’ve been in contact with an individual who works in rescue in the Indianapolis area, and they were able to connect with the shelter director to help us get more information. We learned that the dog in question is younger than Ace and was not neutered.

While this lead didn’t turn out to be Ace, I am incredibly grateful to everyone who reached out, shared the post, and connected me with people and resources in the Indianapolis area. Every message, every share, and every person willing to help means more than I can put into words. 🤍

It’s been a long (almost) 6 months but the search for Ace continues. 🐾

We are still hoping and praying that the next lead will finally bring our boy home. Please continue to keep Ace in your thoughts and share his information whenever you can.

Thank you for continuing to stand beside us in this search.

UPDATE: this was unfortunately not Ace

🚨 I NEED SOME HELP FROM OUR INDIANAPOLIS FOLLOWERS 🚨

I’m reaching out tonight because I may have a lead on Ace, and I’m struggling to get the information I need to follow up on it. 😔

A post on PawBoost shows a dog who looks very similar to Ace. I was told this dog was taken to Indianapolis Animal Care Services, so I have been trying to confirm whether it could be him.

I’ve contacted the shelter by email and sent photos of both Ace and the dog in question. Unfortunately, I received a generic response directing me to check their online listings. The problem is that the current listings do not include a photo of the dog I’m trying to identify, and some of their listings don’t have photos at all. Their phone system also indicates that they do not answer calls and that email is the fastest way to reach them.

I’m feeling incredibly frustrated because this could potentially be Ace, and being nearly 6 months into his disappearance makes every possible lead so important. I don’t want to let this one slip through the cracks simply because I’m hundreds of miles away and can’t walk into the shelter myself.

If you live in Indianapolis or are familiar with Indianapolis Animal Care Services, I could really use your help.

• Does anyone have a connection to someone who works there or could help me speak with an actual person?
• Is anyone familiar with the shelter’s process and know how I might get this information in front of the right person?
• Would anyone in the Indianapolis area be willing to physically check the shelter for me and see if this dog is there?
• Do you know of any local rescue groups, animal advocates, or other contacts who might be able to help investigate this lead?

I can provide photos of Ace, photos of the dog in question, and any other information needed.

I know this is a big ask, but we have followed countless leads over the past several months, and I simply cannot ignore one that looks this much like Ace. 🤍

If you can help in any way (even by sharing this with someone in Indianapolis) please message me.

We are still looking for Ace. We are still hoping. And we are not giving up.

🐾 ACE UPDATE | STILL SEARCHING, STILL HOPING

Since the large Ace signs have gone up around Quincy and more yard signs have been placed, I’ve received dozens of phone calls and texts from local residents who have seen the signs and are keeping an eye out for Ace.

While these calls haven’t resulted in any confirmed sightings of Ace, they mean so much to us because they show that people are continuing to look. The more people who know Ace’s story, the better chance we have of finally bringing him home. 🤍

The large signs will continue to be moved periodically so we can cover different high-traffic areas and reach as many people as possible.

More yard signs are now available for pickup in both Camp Point and Quincy. If you’re willing to put one in your yard or somewhere visible, please message me and I’ll send you the address for pickup.

And if you currently have an Ace yard sign that you’d like to return, please message me. The signs are expensive, but they have been an incredibly important part of getting Ace’s story in front of more people. Every sign helps us reach another person who may recognize him. 🤍

As a reminder, Ace has been missing from the dog sitter’s in Camp Point, Illinois since March 25.

🐾 He is an 8-year-old Goldendoodle
🐾 His hair is wirey, not fluffy or curly like a typical poodle
🐾 His hair was longer when he went missing
🐾 He was wearing a blue collar
🐾 He is neutered and microchipped
🐾 There is a reward for his safe return

One request that could be incredibly important: if you know anyone who has gotten a new Goldendoodle since March, please share Ace’s story with them. It’s possible someone may have seen or heard something without realizing it could be connected to Ace.

Ace has been a part of our family for 8 years. We aren’t giving up on him. We just want our boy home.

Please keep looking. Please keep sharing. And please keep Ace in your thoughts. 🤍

I’m not sure if there has been an influx of out of state orders because people searching for Ace have found my small business along the way, but if that happens to be the case, I wanted to take a moment to simply say thank you. 🤍

For a little bit of transparency… I started Raindrops & Sunshine almost four years ago as a side hobby. It was something that was mine. Something fun and creative that gave me an outlet outside of being a mom and a therapist.

Keeping up with a small business while balancing everything else in life has always been a challenge, but that challenge became so much greater when Ace went missing.

For a long time, the boutique was put on the back burner. My focus shifted to finding Ace, and understandably, a lot of the things I normally poured my time and energy into just had to wait. Unfortunately, that also meant a decrease in a source of income for our family.

There has also been another difficult side to this. Since I made the decision to publicly share our experience and what happened to Ace, there have been some people who have chosen to no longer support the boutique. I understand that everyone has the right to make their own choices, but I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been another difficult thing to navigate emotionally.

Lately, I’ve been trying to find my way back into the things that make me feel like me again. I’m trying to get back into the groove with the boutique and remind myself that it’s okay (and important) to do things for myself, too.

And over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a pretty significant increase in orders from outside of our community. I have no idea if that’s connected to people who have found our story while searching for Ace, but on the off chance that it is, I wanted you to know just how much it means to me.

Every order, every share, every message, every donation, every kind word… it all reminds me that Ace’s story has reached people far beyond our little corner of Illinois.

And if some of you have found my little business because you were looking for him, thank you for supporting something that helps support our family. 🥹🤍

I will never stop being amazed by the kindness that has surrounded us throughout this journey. Even in one of the hardest seasons of our lives, there have been so many little reminders that we aren’t alone.

Thank you for continuing to love Ace, search for him, share his story, and love on our family from wherever you are. And thank you to those of you who have supported me along the way, too… whether that meant ordering from the boutique, sharing a post, sending a message, or simply reminding me that you haven’t forgotten about him.

It means more than I could ever put into words. 🤍

I have a random request.

Our 4 year old daughter still talks about Ace often and tells us how much she misses him and wants him home, just like the rest of us do. With my son leaving for his freshman year of college in 2 weeks, I’m worried about how all of these changes and losses will affect her.

I already have some things planned to help with the transition of her brother not being home, but would love to get her a stuffed animal made that looks like Ace so she has something special to hold onto and feel close to him. Does anyone have recommendations for companies or artists they’ve personally used for custom pet stuffed animals or memorial keepsakes/other ideas for 4 year olds?

🐾 Ace Update 🐾

I wanted to give everyone an update because I know so many of you still ask about Ace and continue to keep him in your thoughts.

This past week was especially difficult. It was Ace’s 8th birthday and I spent a lot of time stuck in grief, thinking about him and wondering where he is. Every milestone without him is hard, but his birthday seemed to hit differently.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have any confirmed sightings or solid leads. I followed up on a few possible sightings in Illinois this week, but none of them ended up being Ace. As disappointing as that is, I’ll continue to follow every lead that comes in.

The good news is that we’re not giving up. More large signs have gone up around town, and I’ll be placing additional yard signs in surrounding communities. Ace’s microchip information is current, and local shelters and animal control continue to know to watch for him.

I also have several extra yard signs in Camp Point, along with one large highway sign that still needs to be put up in that area. If anyone is willing to pick them up from my coworker in Camp Point and place them in their yards (near high traffic areas preferred), I would be incredibly grateful. Right now, I’m continuing to use the donations we’ve received to print and replace signs until we have confirmed sightings to focus our search. Every sign gives someone else the chance to recognize Ace.

One small request: If you ask to claim a sign, please only do so if you’re able to pick it up and put it out. Some have claimed signs but haven’t been able to pick them up, and that prevents them from getting into other locations where they could help. If you currently have one of Ace’s signs in your yard but no longer want it displayed, please send me a message. I’ll gladly pick it up or arrange to get it and find it a new home. These signs can be expensive to replace, and I’d love to keep them working for Ace.

If you’ve been following Ace’s story, I have one favor to ask: please don’t stop looking and sharing with anyone you know to spread the word. Even after all this time, dogs have been reunited with their families months—and even years—after going missing. It only takes one person recognizing him or one microchip scan for everything to change.

Please continue to:
🐾 Share his posts whenever you see them.
🐾 Keep an eye out when you’re driving through central Illinois.
🐾 Check with neighbors if you hear of a stray doodle being seen.
🐾 Share Ace’s story with anyone you know who may have adopted a new male doodle since 3/25.

I’m really trying to find a balance between continuing the search and still living my life. That’s been one of the hardest parts. I’m mentally exhausted, but I refuse to give up on him.

Thank you to every single person who has shared a post, put up a sign, donated toward signs, sent a message, or simply asked how he’s doing. Knowing that so many people still care about Ace means more than I can put into words. It amazes me how many hearts he has touched.

Please keep sharing. Please keep looking. We’re still searching for Ace. 🤍

Today is Ace’s birthday.

I keep wondering where you are, if someone is taking care of you, if you’re safe, if you’re happy, or if you’re still trying to find your way home. Not knowing has been the hardest part of all of this.

You should be here getting spoiled with your favorite treats, extra head scratches and belly rubs, and all the love you always soaked up. Instead, we’re holding onto hope and missing you more than words can express.

Not a single day goes by that we don’t think about you. Your empty spot in our home and in our hearts is a constant reminder that our family is still incomplete.

Wherever you are, I hope you know how deeply you are loved and how hard we’ve searched for you. We haven’t given up, and we won’t stop hoping for the day we get to celebrate your birthday together again.

Happy Birthday, Ace. We love you, we miss you, and we’ll keep waiting for you. 🤍🐾

If anyone has seen Ace or has any information, no matter how small it may seem, please reach out. Someone has to know something. Please continue sharing his story. Every share gives us hope that the right person might see his face.

❗️Update: this is NOT Ace❗️
This dog lives nearby and apparently often on the loose. Animal control is aware. Thank you everyone for looking into this. 🤍

Posting to see if anyone had any additional sightings of this dog in Quincy this afternoon. I don’t think it’s Ace because the coloring appears lighter than his, but it was spotted near our old house, and it’s hard to be certain because the photo quality isn’t very clear.

If anyone saw this dog or has any additional photos or information, I’d really appreciate it. Every lead is worth checking.

🐾 Help Us Bring Ace Home 🐾

We are continuing to do everything we can to bring more awareness to Ace and increase the chances of receiving a sighting or information that leads us back to him. One of the biggest ways we can do that is through distributing more signs in the surrounding areas.

To give an idea of the cost:
• Small yard signs cost about $8 each when produced locally in a bulk order of 100.
• Larger 4 ft x 6 ft signs are approximately $90 each.

Every sign helps keep Ace’s face visible and reminds people to watch for him. Our hope is that increased visibility will lead to more sightings and, ultimately, bring Ace home. My hope is to get a larger bulk order placed as soon as possible.

If you would like to help contribute toward additional signs, donations can be made through:

🤍 GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/1d8d7e2bf
(Please note: GoFundMe does take out processing fees.)

🤍 Venmo:
(Venmo donations do not have fees taken out, so more of your donation goes directly toward signs and search efforts.)

We are so grateful for every person who has shared, donated, picked up a sign, searched, or simply kept Ace in your thoughts. This community has helped keep hope alive, and we are not giving up on him.

Thank you for helping us continue to bring Ace home. ❤️
