Long heart felt post incoming.
When we started offering sourdough a year ago, we never dreamed it would grow into this. About 5 months into this journey I was asked to give a presentation at a conference at DisneyWorld in Orlando for my “real” job. While visiting Disney, my husband and I ate at Todd English’s “Blue Zoo” and they offer sourdough with your meal. I looked at my husband and said, “my sourdough sucks! I have a lot to learn and I want it to be like this!” I can say customers were so gracious early on as I was learning. Adjustments, understanding the science, accidentally sleeping 30 min past my 2:30am alarm. 🚨 Over time, we developed a product we are so proud to offer. It’s light, airy, long fermented, using quality ingredients. We don’t want to be cheapest bread available-we wanted quality you could be proud to say you chose!! We will always use unbleached, unenriched flour. It’s non-negotiable. Our promise to you is that we will never stop learning! We know you have a lot of neighbors, friends, stores, and tables you pass by to come to Dead Cow Ranch! We are grateful each time you choose us, like a post, share with your friends etc. This started as a way to help support my son in playing 7v7 football, AAU basketball etc. I often pay $40+ a day just to cheer him on. He’s a Senior this year and it’s now given him a way to earn money while still competing with a demanding sports schedule. It’s turned into working 20+ hour days for over a year to keep up with the demand. In the last 2 weeks we’ve received some of the most thoughtful compliments, one stating our bread was liked better than a VERY well known shop in Nichols Hills. The second from someone that frequently enjoyed San Francisco sourdough and said ours is just like it! The true way sourdough should be. If this finds Todd English, thanks for humbling me! 🫶🏻
