Meet KoKo! 🐾 She just graduated from our Advanced Obedience Hybrid+ program, and her progress is something to celebrate.

When KoKo started, the world felt like a scary place. She struggled with early signs of reactivity and fear, and every new sight, sound, and dog was a lot to take in. With structure, patience, and consistent training, she’s learned to navigate it with more confidence and focus.

Fear and reactivity don’t mean a dog can’t change. They mean she needed someone to help her understand the world. Congratulations, KoKo, and to her family for trusting the process! 💙

🐾 When ARK K9 has a staff meeting, things get a little wild. 🐾

Yesterday's agenda: rope swinging into the river, plenty of pups, and a surprise haircut. Dena got a fresh trim courtesy of Dakota (our grooming skills clearly go beyond the dogs ✂️).

Shoutout to the whole crew, Dena, Dakota, Tessa, and Natasha, and our four-legged teammates Honey, Indie, Keenai, Rusty, Domino, and Mishka, who definitely did their part (mostly by splashing).

Happy Monday and welcome to this week's K9 Corner! Today's K9 Corner Topic: Why recall is the most important command your dog can learn.

A dog who comes when called has more freedom and stays safer. That matters on the trail, at the park, or when the front door gets left open.

Reliable recall is built in stages: start in a low-distraction space, add distance, then add real-world distractions, all while staying consistent with the same cue and expectation.

A few common mistakes we see:
❌ Only calling your dog when the fun is ending
❌ Repeating the command over and over
❌ Using "come" only when your dog is in trouble

Pro Tip: Make coming back the best thing that happens all day!
