Our pets hold a special place in our hearts ❤️ So why wouldn't we do everything possible to keep them safe? Something as simple as having up-to-date info for your pets can be a lifesaver in an emergency.

Here's a few things that are helpful to have handy:

* A good close up photo of their face your cell phone
* Your current contact info linked to their microchip.
* Phone numbers for your vet and emergency clinic.

We hope our beautiful pets will never get hurt,  but being prepared is always a good idea!

How do you know if your dog needs a coat?

If you have a healthy, adult dog with a thick fur coat, he may not need a sweater or a winter jacket.  However, short-coated, elderly dogs and puppies might appreciate an extra layer, especially if they are used to spending the day inside curled up on the couch.  Notice if they tend to shiver or hold their paws up in the cold weather.  A jacket with a waterproof layer provides added protection in wet and icy conditions!

Bundle up and enjoy the outdoors with your dog!

Bringing a new pup into your home is a fun and positive experience on so many levels. But during the busyness of the holiday season, consider these challenges that can come with a winter puppy:

Shorter days mean that going outside for playtime, walks and socialization can be difficult.

Your work schedule may limit opportunities for walks to the very early mornings and after dark.

And you will need an extra dose of patience to housetrain a puppy in the cold weather. Effective training requires many trips outside, and you need to be prepared to wait in the cold and unpleasant weather while your puppy remembers what they are there to do.

With a little preparation, patience and maybe a few extra layers of clothing, raising a puppy can be lots of fun! 😊 🦮

You don't have to wait for spring cleaning to spiff up your dog's toy box. Sort through their toys, replace any damaged ones, and wash the rest by hand, in the dishwasher or washing machine as appropriate. Your dog will thank you!
