Standard French Bulldog Colors & Patterns
According to AKC standards, these are considered standard:
1. Brindle: Classic "tiger-striped" pattern, ranging from sparse to heavy stripes.
2. Fawn: Ranges from light tan to deep reddish tan, often with a black mask.
3. Cream: A solid, light cream color.
4. White: Solid white coat.
5. Pied: Mostly white with patches of brindle or fawn.
6. Combinations: Fawn & White, Brindle & White, Fawn Brindle.
Common and Rare French Bulldog Variations
These are often highly sought after but may not meet breed standards and are linked to recessive genes and potential health concerns:
1. Blue: A sleek, bluish-gray coat resulting from a dilute gene, often paired with light eyes.
2. Merle: A marbled pattern with patches of different colors (blue, chocolate, fawn).
3. Lilac: A pale, purplish-gray color caused by the combination of chocolate and blue genes.
4. Isabella: A rare, cool-toned greyish-lavender, often with lighter eyes.
5. Chocolate: A deep, solid brown.
6. Black: Pure black without any brindle traces (non-standard).
7. Fluffy: A variation with long, fluffy hair rather than the standard short, smooth coat.
