Hi everyone!

Just a quick update on shipping timelines. We ship live orders Monday through Thursday and were closed from Christmas Eve through this past Sunday. We reopened today and are working through all orders that are not currently on a weather hold as quickly as possible.

Please note that UPS, our logistics carrier, is closed on Thursday for New Year’s Day. This may cause slight delays this week and is unfortunately outside of our control.

For the safety and wellbeing of our turtles and tortoises, we only ship to areas where overnight temperatures remain above 40°F. If your area is below this threshold, your order will be placed on a weather hold in accordance with our terms and conditions and will ship as soon as it’s safe for your new buddy to travel. Turtles and tortoises are ectothermic, and they become more susceptible to illness and death when shipped in super cold weather, which we try to avoid as much as possible!

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and we can’t wait to get your new friend to you safely!

A Note on Live Animal Shipping & Transparency 💚🐢

We want to take a moment to speak openly and honestly about live animal shipping, because transparency matters to us.

Just like people, every turtle is unique. Each one handles stress, temperature changes, and transit differently. While we take every possible precaution to ensure your turtle arrives safe and healthy, there are parts of the shipping process that are simply beyond our control—such as weather conditions and how logistics carriers handle packages once they leave our facility.

Our boxes are clearly labeled as LIVE ANIMALS, our account includes multiple live-animal notes, and we’re fortunate to have a great relationship with our local UPS driver (shoutout to Paul 👋). On our end, we do everything possible to give each turtle the safest journey we can.

That said, the reality—though uncommon—is that not every turtle survives transit. We understand how disappointing and emotional that can be, and we never take that lightly.

To support our customers, we offer both a 24-hour and a 7-day health guarantee. Our guarantee process is straightforward and handled as quickly as possible. Our Customer Care Specialist, Ashlyn, works hard to respond to everyone promptly and help resolve issues with care and compassion.

For additional transparency: of the 309 orders shipped on Monday for Christmas Eve delivery, only 5 were affected. While losses can happen, they are rare.

If you are ever impacted, we kindly ask that you reach out to us directly first and allow us the opportunity to make it right before taking concerns to social media. We are always willing to help and stand behind our guarantees.

At the end of the day, we are a small, family-run business with just five employees, and our mission has always been—and will always be—to safely place healthy turtles into loving homes.

We will resume normal operating hours on Monday.
