We want to wish a very Happy Birthday week to Dr Jess!

A huge thank you to Savannah's Angels for the beautiful birthday cake 🎂

We truly can't say enough wonderful things about Dr Jess. Not only is she an amazing, thoughtful person, but she is also an incredibly talented and versatile veterinarian. She goes above and beyond for our team, our patients, and their families every single day. Her dedication, compassion, and hard work never go unnoticed, and she brings so much joy to everyone lucky enough to work with her.

Even though she would rather stay out of the spotlight, this week we are celebrating her because she deserves every bit of it.

Happy birthday, Dr Jess! We love and appreciate you more than words can say!

🎆 July 4th is coming — keep your furry family members safe! 🐾
Fireworks, crowds, and summer heat can be stressful and dangerous for pets. A few quick tips:
🏷️ CHECK YOUR ID TAGS & MICROCHIP
Before the holiday weekend, make sure your pet's collar tags are current and that your
microchip registry has your latest phone number and address. This one step dramatically
increases the chances of a safe reunion if your pet bolts.
🏠 KEEP PETS INDOORS DURING FIREWORKS
Even the most relaxed dog can panic at the sound of fireworks. Keep cats AND dogs inside in a
quiet, interior room. Turn on the TV or white noise to help muffle the sound. If your pet has
shown anxiety around fireworks in the past, call us — there are safe, effective options to help.
🍗 WATCH THE FOOD
We know those puppy eyes are hard to resist at the cookout, but many common holiday foods
are toxic to pets: onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, corn cobs, xylitol (in sugar-free foods), alcohol,
and cooked bones can all cause serious harm. Keep trash cans secured too — a curious pet
WILL investigate.
🌡️ HEAT IS A REAL DANGER
Summer in the Outer Banks means heat and humidity that can overwhelm pets quickly. Never
leave a pet in a parked car — even for a few minutes. Make sure outdoor pets have shade and
fresh water at all times. Know the signs of heat stroke: excessive panting, drooling, weakness,
or collapse. If you see these, contact us immediately.
🎇 AFTER THE FIREWORKS
Check your yard before letting pets outside. Fireworks debris — including wrappers, wicks, and
unexploded shells — can be toxic if chewed or ingested.
From all of us at First Flight Veterinary Hospital, we wish you and your pets a safe and happy
Fourth of July! 🇺🇸🐾

After nearly 30 years of dedication to the veterinary profession, today we celebrate an incredible milestone—retirement! 🐾❤️

For almost three decades, Kim has been a friendly voice on the phone, a comforting presence at the front desk, and a source of kindness and support for countless pets and their families. From celebrating new puppy visits to helping clients through some of their hardest days, she has been an integral part of the veterinary team and has touched more lives than she will ever know.

Her compassion, professionalism, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to patient care have left a lasting impact on our hospital, our clients, and all of us fortunate enough to work alongside her.

While we will miss seeing her smiling face every day, we are so excited for her as she begins this well-earned new chapter filled with relaxation, adventure, family, and all the things she loves most.

Please join us in congratulating Kim on her retirement and thanking her for nearly 30 years of service to the veterinary community! 🎉🎂🐶🐱

Congratulations, Kim! Your First Flight Veterinary Hospital family loves you and wishes you all the happiness in the world. 💙

🐾🎉 Happy Veterinarian Appreciation Day! 🎉🐾

Today we’re celebrating the doctors behind the stethoscopes, the late-night worry, the happy tears, the difficult decisions, and the endless dedication to the animals we love. ❤️

Veterinarians wear many hats—doctor, surgeon, detective, counselor, educator, and sometimes even professional treat-giver! 🩺🐶🐱🐴

At First Flight Veterinary Hospital, we are incredibly grateful for our amazing veterinarians who work tirelessly to keep your furry family members healthy and happy.

From puppy kisses and kitten purrs to senior pet snuggles and everything in between, thank you for trusting us to be part of your pets' lives. 🐾

💙 Help us celebrate today by giving a shout-out to your favorite veterinarian in the comments and sharing a photo of a pet whose life has been touched by veterinary care!

✨ To all veterinarians everywhere: Thank you for your compassion, your expertise, and your unwavering commitment to animals and the people who love them.
