This photo was shared with me asking if this is the dreaded Starry Stonewort. I’m happy to say it is NOT.

I love that people are on the look out for invasive plants in our lake. It’s important to nip those pesky things before they spread!

Aquatic Enhacement will be spraying herbicide targeting Milfoil ONLY on Tuesday May 26th.

Water use restrictions-
No swimming for 1 day
No garden or ornamental plant watering for 10 days
No livestock watering for 30 days
No restriction for turf irrigation

This is NOT the shoreline treatment company - Aquatic W**d Control. That treatment will be mid June to comply with DNR regulation of 3 weeks between sprays.

The Myers Lake W**d Committee has been revived with new members and met on 5/17/2026 to discuss the milfoil issue and shoreline management. Committee members include Wendy Holloway, Debbie Palmer, Keri Tillman, Jo Bruno, Bert Bruno, and Dan Chamberlain.

“Yellow Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus) is a highly invasive, non-native plant in North America and other regions. It is an aquatic perennial that dominates wetlands, shorelines, and shallow water, forming dense mats that choke out native vegetation, block waterways, and damage fish and wildlife habitats.”

I just removed a clump from my shoreline. It’s blooming now so easy to spot. Get rid of it before it takes over your shoreline!

Did you see? Several lakes in Marshall County were awarded grants and Myers Lake is included. This money will be used to combat invasive aquatic plants in our lake.
