I have the pleasure of spending some time with this handsome gentleman this week. Ike is a sweet 9-year-old American Shorthair with possibly the cutest little white patch on his chest. 🖤🤍

He’s also quite the conversationalist. Ike has plenty to say, loves curling up in my lap for pets and purrs, and has already made his position on treats VERY clear: more. The answer is always more. 😹

I’ve been having so much fun experimenting with this whimsical, vintage storybook art style lately, so naturally one of my Zack’s Pack clients had to get his own portrait.

I think it captured this sweet boy pretty darn well. 🐈‍⬛❤️

With summer temperatures climbing, it’s important to remember that our pets can overheat much faster than we do. A few simple tips can help keep them safe and comfortable:

☀️ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
💧 Always bring fresh water on walks and offer frequent breaks
🐾 Check the pavement with your hand. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws
🌳 Seek shade whenever possible
🚩 Watch for signs of overheating: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or disorientation

At Zack’s Pack, summer walks often include extra water breaks, shorter routes, and plenty of opportunities to channel our inner Bucky at the dog fountain. 😄

Well, it only took a year. LOL

Zack’s Pack just hit 100 reviews on Rover, and I’m incredibly grateful to every single client who has trusted me with their dogs, cats, chaos gremlins, snack goblins, shy sweethearts, senior babies, anxious little shadows, and professional couch potatoes.

When I started doing this full time, I hoped I could build something real by showing up, being dependable, loving these pets like they were my own, and sending way too many photos along the way.

Deep Thoughts by Cotton

Today I turned 8.

People keep saying that makes me a “senior dog,” but honestly, I feel like that’s just human propaganda from people who can’t handle my wisdom, charisma, and cake-eating efficiency.

I have learned many things in my eight years on this Earth:

Cake tastes better when you steal the first bite.
Frosting is not a snack. It is a lifestyle.
Balloons are suspicious, but acceptable if they honor me.
Leashes are merely decorative suggestions.
And birthdays are proof that the universe occasionally gets something exactly right.

Some dogs chase squirrels.
Some dogs guard the house.
Some dogs bring back the ball.

Me? I bring joy, crumbs, chaos, and just enough frosting on my face to remind everyone that life is meant to be devoured.

Thank you for celebrating another trip around the sun with me.

Now please stop taking pictures and return me to my cake.
