Update: 6/2 Puppies have found rescue with another group, they are safe. Yay!

Who can help these puppies? Can you open your home and heart to foster? Would you like to foster to adopt?

We must find a foster's for these babies. The family has them living outback in a dangerous environment, dirty water, flies eating their ears. One puppy escaped and was hit by a car, two other's were given away to random strangers.

We can get Mama spayed, but first we need to get these pups in foster homes.

Who is ready to help? Where are the warriors willing to commit to saving lives?

We provide the medical, food, treats, supplies, you provide the safe home and care.

One puppy per home, is there no one that cares enough to step up for them?

Hey There Everyone, Sir Nike here!

It's been awhile since I hoped online and shared by life adventures with all you beautiful people. Last evening my family allowed me to es**rt my rescue and foster Mama, Cynthia to an event downtown Chicago. The Bark4Compassion fundraiser at the Porsche Downtown Chicago dealership.

Wow! from the moment we entered the building everyone was coming up to me, asking Mama Cynthia if they could say hello to me. I thought, "Heck yes!, bring on the lovin'"

The first lady sat right on the floor in her beautiful dress and was talking to me like we were old friends. That's when she explained that she is Eduard's wife, the pilot who flew me to Mama. She met me when I had just arrived and my front legs were all curved like a pretzel gone wrong.

If you don't know, I was found by Animal Control down in Rayne, Louisiana, abandoned. A mere puppy, wandering the backroad in January of 2024. The good people of Haseya's New Beginning Animal Rescue shelter in Rayne, LA, told the AC to take me to their vet hospital.

The rescue then posted on Facebook asking if there were any rescues who would be able to take me in and help. Someone tagged Mama and since Sprout had been part of the rescue with the same deformity and she had learned so much about caring for us Front Limb Deformity dogs, she said yes.

7 people drove me on that 8 plus hour trip and we went up through Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and then into Portageville, Missouri. This is where Mama posted for drivers to bring me up through Illinois, but instead a man reached out and said he could fly me St. Louis, IL to Joliet, IL.

Then Mama learned about Valentina a dog who had been struck by a car, she had a fractured limb, the skin was torn from parts of her body from the road rash. The shelter was going to euthanatize her, but Mama had other plans. I met Valentina at the airport, Eduard had said that it was no problem for her to come along also. He helped turn a mission to fly one medical dog into a flight for two.

As I learned last night at the party, Eduard is a pretty popular and special man who helps lots of dogs like me safely and quickly make our freedom trips to their rescue.

He throws a great party too! I had so much fun meeting people, giving kisses, getting kisses, belly rubs and pets. Mama shared my story over and over with people who were interested in knowing how I became one of Eduard's passenger's.

Let me tell you this man Eduard is pretty special in my book also, he helped find me a temp foster for when I was going through exams and therapy in Chicago, his organization posted my information for when it was time for adoption and he texts Mama Cynthia every couple of months to ask how my life is going.

It was great to see him again and show him how my legs are no longer all wonky and I use them to walk, run, do stairs and even hop on the sofa at home. I hopped on the sofa at Porsche and Mama Cynthia said I had to get down, that the people at Porsche would probably not appreciate doggie's on the furniture.

This event was so fancy that when it came to dinnertime, they gave me bottled water for my food dish and water bowl. First class service all the way around. The one chef was serving these meatballs, everyone was talking about them, Mama Cynthia even had one, but I was told they weren't for dogs. Boy did I want one though.

Then we discovered that on these giant tv screens in different areas of the dealership were playing a video and I was one of the stars of the video. There I was up on the giant screen, my puppy photos, my flight photos, my recovery photos, my story being told in words and pictures. No wonder so many people knew my name, I was a celebrity thanks to Bark4Compassion.

There were some puppies there, they growled at me, Mama said I couldn't play with them, they were too small, so I just stared at them as they barked and growled. The nerve!

There were some people that asked if I was looking for a forever home, they really loved my style and class. Mama had to tell them that I am not available, that I have a fantastic forever family that takes great care of me and loves me as much as I love them. I am cool with meeting people and being a good ambassador for my breed on outings, but I have a family to go home to at the end of the day.

My Mom bought me that fancy Tux collar outfit and Mama Cynthia was sending them photos throughout the night. Mom couldn't come because my brother is in a baseball tournament, but Mom trusts Mama Cynthia will protect me with her life. I am glad Mom and Dad let me go to the party, I am proud to be a K9 Enrichment Initiative dog and grateful Mama Cynthia chose ME to save and to find the perfect family for me.

To all my new friends I met at the event, "love you, thanks for the lovin's" and remember to support Bark4Compassion, Eduard and the gang do life saving work for rescue dogs. I may never fly in an airplane again, but my one flight meant everything.

Thank you to Mrs. Jeanne Patinka for being my chauffer and safely driving us to and from the event. Plus thank you for all the pets, love and treats.

Today Von R***r's family has said "see you later" one last time. R***r has lost his battle with DM. He leaves behind his disabled Dad who is devastated.

Von R***r came to the rescue as an owner surrender after he was diagnosed with EPI. He arrived at the hospital weighing 48lbs, he was the walking dead.

He spent months at Shorewood Animal Hospital where the staff went above and beyond to care for him under the direction of Dr. Ken Overmeyer. R***r's food needed to be ground, his enzyme's added and the food set for a min. of 20 minutes prior to feeding.

A special thank you to Cathy Wiskur at the front desk who made certain his meals were always ready to go when the tech's needed them.

R***r spent months living at the hospital slowly regaining the weight as he could now digest the food. He was then neutered, brought up to date on vaccines and began looking for a foster home.

He was fortunate and found a foster home for a month with a couple, which gave us lots of information on what type of home he needed besides someone dedicated to preparing his food and the cost that comes with the medicated enzyme's.

We searched for 10 months and then in the most unlikely place, my brother adopted him after his dog passed away. He fostered to adopt and on the second day was telling me "he is staying", they bonded fast.

Three years ago the rescue brought in another GSD puppy this time that has EPI and I knew who to ask to adopt him. C**t moved in and R***r became big brother, Mom, and Dad to him. He taught the young pup everything he knew about being a great companion to Dad.

The cool thing was I got to talk to R***r (and C**t) everyday as they lived right behind me. I was in charge of refreshing R***r's spiked rubber ball supply for fetch, bathtime and fur coat brush outs. He loved to be pampered and I enjoyed every minute with him.

R***r's dad is devastated, C**t is not prepared to be alone and my heart is breaking. I do know that R***r lived the best years of his life with his Dad.

He went from a home where they refused to provide the proper meals and treatment, he had a prong collar embedded in his neck at one point and they refused vaccines. The day his owners dropped him at the hospital was the first best day of his life.

Thank you to everyone who ever donated towards his initial care, to the Petfinder Foundation for a Senior grant that went towards his adoption and care, to all the volunteers who loved on him.

To the bestest boy, a true loyal friend and companion, it was a privilege to know you, run free my boy...until we meet again.

I have listed a brief description of the illnesses that all too often affect GSD's cutting their lives far too short. R***r was a healthy 95lbs, running through the yard, catching balls, wrestling with his younger brother until suddenly he was not. In the course of 8 months of doing everything to keep him safe and comfortable, the disease progressed as there is no cure.

Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is a progressive disease affecting the spinal cord in older dogs, causing loss of coordination and weakness in the hind limbs. It is often caused by a genetic mutation and there is no cure, but physical therapy may help slow its progression

EPI in dogs, or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, is a condition where the pancreas does not produce enough digestive enzymes, leading to poor digestion and nutrient absorption. Common symptoms include weight loss despite a normal or increased appetite, chronic diarrhea, and vomiting following meals.

On May 17th, I celebrated 10 years of K9 Enrichment Initiative Rescue.

10 years, 523 dogs pulled from shelter's, 515 went into forever homes.

Abe, Duncan, Bailey, Walter, Raxx, Ragnar, Emma, and Sir Winston did not make it into forever homes. On an occasion to celebrate the victories, I remember every dog that didn't make it into a forever home as I still see them as victors.

They left the shelter, Duncan, Bailey, Sir Winston scheduled for euthanasia, I wanted to give them a chance, to not have their last memories be of a shelter death.

Six months and more dedicated to training, behaviorist, nutritionist, medication, lab work looking for any underlying illness that would explain why they weren't able to find their balance and exist in the free world of having a family. I spent their last day with them doing their favorite things, eating cheeseburgers and ice cream cones, and lots of "I love you" and pets. I prayed over them as they departed telling them to "run free, they were loved". The pain is still with me, in my heart I believe they did run free, no longer tormented by their demons.

Ragnar, Emma, Walter, Raxx, Abe, you fought hard, the medical teams did all they could in an attempt to save your bodies; but the damage and illness was too much to overcome. I held you, told you to run free that the pain would stop, that you would be whole again. Ragnar barely 8lbs, a larger dog chewed your body like a toy, Walter abuse took your life, Raxx and Abe mere puppies taken by Parvo and Emma your body ravished by heartworm disease and yet you held on to give birth to your beautiful 6 pups. In the short time you were mine, I loved you.

As for the 515 other's, some of their family's send me updates and it fills my heart to know they are so loved and living their best lives. If you read this, I would love an updated photo.

Many passed through my home as I fostered those that needed extra time and work, Trinity, Prince Otto, Cass, Alda, Humphrey, Claudia, Atticus, Sprout, Sir Nike, Patches, Cruella, Callen, Misha, Reymond, Ty-Ty, Desi, Roscoe, Earl de Pearl, and Nikko Smith. Some medical cases and others behavioral needs, but they all taught me a great deal about the human dog relationship.

To every foster family that stepped up to save a dogs life, thank you, I hope you are proud of the action you took in helping them in their journey to forever.

It was suggested that we do a $10 for 10 years fundraiser and if your able to donate I say thank you with deep gratitude.

Here's to all the dogs that drew me in to rescue them and went on to complete their families.

Here's to the dogs that we kept out of shelters and in homes with their families.

One team, one path, one goal...

Cynthia Lynn
