Pittsburgh Animal Save hosted a vigil at MRG “Food” on 6/20/2026 to honor Regan Russell's legacy as an animal rights activist for 40 years of her life before her untimely death on 6/19/2020 when she was killed by a pig transport truck that ran over over.
At the vigil we found life in a butterfly, a neighborhood cat named “Eli”, and we even spoke to neighbors who chose complacency when referring to the business of death next door. We also listened to the cries of individuals inside, desperate to be free in their final moments, and ultimately were silenced before our vigil concluded.
The normalized violence against the innocent must be stopped and we won't stop until it does. 💔 🕯
