🎄🐰 URGENT: Holiday Fosters Needed! 🐾❤️

A few of our rabbit fosters fell through due to unexpected family emergencies, and we need YOUR help finding some of our furry friends a place to land this holiday season! 🏡

🐰 RABBITS: We’re especially looking for fosters for our friendly bonded pairs and larger-breed bunnies! Whether you can open your home temporarily (ideally through the end of the year), until they’re adopted, or as a foster-to-adopt - we have options for you! And don’t forget… fosters receive an adoption fee discount if they decide to make it official! 😉💕

🐱 CAT LOVERS: Staying home for the holidays? We have TWO adoptable cats hoping to find a cozy holiday foster home!
🐾 Miss Molly would love a quiet home without young children or rowdy pets.
🐾 Stoick is a little more easy-going and ready to make himself at home.
Both are looking for someone to share some holiday snuggles with. Could that be YOU? 🥹❤️

🐭 OTHER SMALL ANIMALS: We also have chinchillas, rats, guinea pigs, gerbils, and senior male mice looking for foster homes and/or forever families!

‼️ NORTHERN CAMBRIA CAT UPDATE ‼️

FINAL UPDATE (FOR NOW): The imaging didn’t show any impacted teeth causing the issues and they didn’t find any polyps or other obvious issues. They flushed her out and we hope that’ll help the respiratory issues resolve. If not, we will try another antibiotic. The good news is that her SNAP tests were negative and her upper respiratory PCR tests were negative. Now we just have to evict the boogers and stop the sneezing fits & wheezing.

UPDATE: We are going to be leaving her at the vet to be sedated so the vets can get a better look at her dental situation and look for a polyp. The estimate is between approx. $450-700 depending on what they find. If her dental situation is too complex, she may have to go to a specialist.

We are at the vet with Olive Oyl who has had chronic respiratory issues since her arrival from the Northern Cambria hoarding situation. All her testing up to this point has been negative. We’ve done multiple rounds of antibiotics only for the symptoms to immediately return. They are doing x-rays to see if some of the teeth that didn’t erupt are the problem. The other issue to rule out would be a polyp.

Exam and x-rays are estimated to be $300. Next step would be to sedate to look for a polyp.

Did you know domestic chinchillas trace their roots to northern Chile? 🇨🇱 Their wild ancestors include Chinchilla Lanigera, a species native to the Andes Mountains!

These fluffy little animals are famous for their incredibly dense fur, powerful hind legs, and amazing jumping abilities. Today’s domestic chinchillas may be pets, but they still carry the wild instincts and unique adaptations of their mountain-dwelling ancestors. 🏔️🐾

🐰💡 Bun Fact Friday! Did you know rabbits aren’t rodents? They belong to a completely different group of mammals called lagomorphs!

So, what makes lagomorphs different?

1. Their teeth 🦷 - Rabbits have four upper incisors (two large front teeth and two smaller teeth tucked right behind them), while rodents only have two upper incisors.

2. Their digestive system 🌿 - Lagomorphs also have specialized digestive systems that allow them to get the most nutrition out of their plant-based diet.

So next time someone calls your rabbit a rodent, you can share this fun little science lesson! 💚🐰

We are all over the Pittsburgh area today with four rabbits seeing three different vets!

Beatrice & Birdie, two of the Baldwin buns are getting spayed today.
• Beatrice’s spay & vaccines are sponsored
• Birdie still needs a sponsor(s) $120 for the spay and $70 for the vaccines

Mrs. T, one of the Burgh buns, is headed to the vet due to difficulty swallowing and tremors.

Opal is post-op from having a large ovarian cyst removed and isn’t doing well post-op. She still won’t eat on her own.

🌟 ADOPTABLE CATS 🌟

Help us find homes for Stoick and Miss Molly!

🐱 STOICK is estimated to be 1 1/2 years old and has no known health issues. He is friendly and playful. He is long-haired but pretty easy to groom. Stoick was rescued by a Good Samaritan after living most, if not all, of his life outdoors. He came to us last winter and has been patiently waiting for his forever home. Stoick loves love, food and playing!

🐱MISS MOLLY is estimated to be 3 years old and has no known health issues. She is friendly and loves spending time with people. She would love to watch TV, read books or just chill with you. She prefers a home without young children or chaos. She enjoyed other cats nearby but not chaotic kittens. Miss Molly was found by a property manager left behind in a vacant apartment. She had been alone for days before being discovered. She’s used to the quiet life. So far we’ve discovered she loves catnip and watching “rat tv” (aka watching the rescue rats play)!

Both cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Also, their adoption fee has been partially sponsored to help them find forever homes!

Requirements:
🏠 indoor-only
💉 other pets must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines
💗 ready for a new family member to love
