Smokey Boy officially joined us for one of our Doggy Field Trips today, and I was SO excited when his mom signed him up! 🐾❤️ Smokey is one of my absolute favorites and seriously the best boy!
We also brought along Smokey’s buddy, my dog Arlo! These two get along great and are the perfect adventure buddies. 🐶🐶 We started at Happy Hollow Park for a nice stroll, made two stops at dog-friendly pet stores for some socialization and exploring, and finished with another stroll at Munger Park.
Every field trip is planned around the dogs coming along, so since Smokey is a little older, we took everything at his pace. We had plenty of breaks, let him cool off, sniff and explore, and even did some indoor walking for a little extra mental stimulation.
Getting senior dogs out and about is about more than just exercise. Staying active helps support their mobility and muscles, while all the new smells, sights and places give their brains something to work on too. Research has found that more active senior dogs tend to have better cognitive health, so keeping them moving and giving them new experiences can be a really good part of helping them age well. ❤️🐾
Smokey had such a fun day, and I think he’d definitely say it was a pretty good adventure! 🚗🐶
