❤️Gustav❤️
It was a bitterly cold Saturday in early 2014 when I was leaving for a Zumba class and saw this beautiful black cat on my patio. I had seen him a few times, and he was so friendly and seemed like he was looking for a friend. I stopped to pet him and realized I could not leave him out in the cold. Little did I know he was the sweetest little man that ever walked the earth. So friendly and plush, I named him Gustav. Gustav loved to cuddle, and he loved to eat. He loved to sit and look out the window. I think he was just happy to have a home. In the 12 years he was with me, I knew there was not one day that he wasn't grateful to be there. Last March, he suffered a seizure, and our vet believed he had a brain tumor. We knew his days were numbered. Nevertheless, Gustav carried on giving love and snuggles. This summer, despite all the food and his healthy appetite, Gustav lost an alarming amount of weight, and the first weekend in August, he really started to deteriorate. It became obvious that he was at the end. It broke my heart, but I knew it was time for him. The morning Dr. Caplan came, Gustav could not stand or lift his head. Gustav may have been a little mench man, but he leaves a large hole in my heart. I know he is out of pain and not suffering, but he is greatly missed.
