ISO MUZZLE!

Specifically a Muzzle Movement “Neli” size muzzle. We have a bite risk case who needs to be in a muzzle for an extended period, and MM muzzle’s are our go-to for being bite resistant, having proper pant room, and a large treat hole.

NOSEWORK DROP IN!!

Sunday at 9 am in Westminster.

This is for dogs who are already imprinted on odor.

Sport oil (we will provide it), narcotics, explosives, human remains, or whatever other scent your dog is on. Be prepared to bring your own odor if your dog isn’t on essential oils.

Free for active law enforcement teams - $20 for others.

As some of you know, we were nominated for the Jordan’s Way tour that is coming through NC and SC.

I see other local rescues from this area that we know and are on good terms with that have now been added to their tour.

We decided to remove ourself from their tour after being made aware of quite a few issues with them/their founder, and will be sharing this with the hope that other ethical rescues think deeply about who they choose to associate with for the sake of fundraising.

There are additional pages (search “Jordan’s Way Exposed” on fb) dedicated specifically to pointing out issues and red flags with their organization, including:

•the $250 non refundable fee rescues must pay to be added to the tour- on top of the 20-25% that they take from all proceeds. •Their 501c3 status was revoked in 2018
•the winner of their ‘longest shelter dog’ search appears to be the wife of the gentleman who drives the founder’s RV around. What a coincidence.

Adding that to the absolutely ABHORRENT way Kris Rotunda spoke about and to the director and volunteers of the Jeanette Hunt shelter, AND after hearing personal accounts from a friend who attended a recent event for another rescue- where she was uncomfortably hit on and repeatedly had to tell Jordan’s Way staff/admins to not harass dogs and not take phones out of volunteers hands- we will be not only separating ourselves from this tour, but recommending our local partners do the same.

I know many rescues have a “any money is better than no money” policy, but when you consider how many volunteers and resources go into the hours of live-streaming; the set up, the organization- coupled with damaging the most valuable thing we have: our reputation… it’s a big NO from me.

The last 12 hours have been very, very weird. People pretending to work for us to get ahold of stray dogs- which has unlocked a new fear for us, thanks. And calling 3 separate vets we use to try and fit Poe in for X-rays and bloodwork, because he’s a wonky guy and we really need answers- only for all of them to be short staffed and pushed 2-3 weeks out for appointments. To then bringing Poe by the shelter to register him as lost, only to be told he MUST be neutered if we went through their intake process. (We are pro spay/neuter, but not when the dog is pediatric. & our local shelter is great, we were just surprised by this program change). So we have to cover everything for him from our coffers. Which are ✨empty.✨

I’ll be real with yall- we don’t have the funds for this. We’re buying food bag by bag right now. We did not anticipate Poe having physiological issues to this extent. A couple fosters have popped up with mystery gastroenteritis, and we certainly didn’t plan to bring on a 3 month old puppy in s**t condition, but here we are. 😮‍💨

We have until May 27th, next Wed, to raise $770.15 to get both of these kids the care they need. Grimm will receive his vaccine package ($80) from tomorrow.

This kid has made me laugh every day. He’s also made me say “I now know why you were on discount!” (My go-to phrase for owner surrenders😂)

Poe’s leg is ROUGH. And it’s changes the way his entire body moves. His gait is weird, and his hips have a lateral shift that is likely dysplasia or uneven use over time.

My hope we can get a s**tload of rads, shoot them to an ortho, and ortho says “why yes, I can make this crooked child straight again!”

The plan today is to call around to our vets and get some quotes drawn up for exam, HW check, and rads. We’ll post everyone once we have it.
