WE REALLY DID IT!!!!!!! 🎉🐾

I have dreamed about this, planned for it, worked for it, written The BFF Way, taken jobs to fund it, and kept building even when nobody could see what was happening behind the scenes.

And today I finally get to say it:

Best Furry Friends Pet Training & Education LLC is officially a real company.

BFF started with one simple belief: our pets deserve to be understood, not just trained. Observe. Advocate. Communicate. Build the relationship, and the behavior will follow.

Getting the LLC was never the finish line. It was the door I needed to open so I could finally start doing what I've been building toward—getting into our communities, hosting educational events, meeting pet parents face-to-face, and putting The BFF Way into practice.

To everyone who has encouraged me, believed in this idea, or simply followed along while I figured out how to turn a dream into something real—thank you.

BFF may have been quiet lately, but behind the scenes I’ve been working harder than ever to bring this dream out of the cosmos and into reality. 💚🐾

I started a full-time job so I can earn the money I need to officially form my LLC—and I am getting SO close. This job is helping me build the bridge between where BFF is today and the day I can start hosting events, meeting all of you, and working with families right here in our community.

🇺🇸 The fireworks may be over, but your dog’s journey doesn’t end with one holiday.

Some dogs surprised us this weekend.

Some struggled more than we hoped.

And some simply made one tiny step forward.

Every one of those outcomes is okay.

Progress isn’t measured by having a “perfect” Fourth of July. It’s measured by continuing to build confidence long after the last firework fades.

The families who see the biggest changes usually aren’t the ones who wait until next July to start again.

They’re the ones who keep practicing, celebrating the small wins, and remembering that trust is built over time.

Your dog doesn’t need perfection.

They just need you to keep showing up.

🇺🇸 Tomorrow, millions of Americans will gather with family, friends, food, and fireworks to celebrate our nation's 250th birthday.

While we're looking up at the sky, many of our pets are looking to us.

Not because they understand fireworks...

But because they trust us.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our dogs isn't another command.

It's the confidence that no matter what is happening around them, they're safe with us.

Preparation isn't about expecting something to go wrong.

It's about giving our pets every opportunity to succeed before they're asked to face something difficult.

A few minutes of planning today can mean a much calmer, more confident dog tomorrow.

Because at Best Furry Friends, we don't just train behaviors.

We build relationships that help our pets navigate the world with us.

🇺🇸 Fireworks don't have to be something your dog simply "gets through."

Every year, I see loving pet parents preparing for the Fourth by buying calming treats, closing the blinds, and turning up the TV.

Those things can absolutely help.

But what if we could also start changing how our dogs FEEL about those sounds?

Fear isn't just a behavior—it's an emotion. And emotions can change when we consistently pair scary things with wonderful experiences.

That's why I love creating opportunities for dogs to discover that loud noises don't always predict something frightening.

Sometimes...they predict a party.

Sometimes they predict a favorite game.

Sometimes they predict a room full of popcorn to sniff out.

The goal isn't perfection before July 4th.

The goal is simply to start building confidence, one positive experience at a time.

Even if your dog has struggled with fireworks for years, it's never too late to begin creating a different story.

Most people recognize anxiety when a dog is shaking or hiding.

But anxiety is often much quieter than that.

It can look like:
🐾 Constant panting.
🐾 Scratching or licking that never seems to stop.
🐾 Pacing from room to room.
🐾 Being unable to relax, even in a safe home.
🐾 Always watching, listening, and reacting to every little sound.

These behaviors aren’t “bad habits.” They’re your dog’s way of saying, “I’m struggling.”

Instead of correcting the behavior, try asking what your dog might need.

❤️ Slow your routine down.
❤️ Give them predictable daily structure.
❤️ Allow them to sniff and explore on walks instead of rushing.
❤️ Create a quiet place where they can truly relax.
❤️ Reward calm choices rather than waiting for mistakes.
❤️ If the anxiety is severe or persistent, work with your veterinarian and a qualified trainer to address the underlying cause.

Understanding the behavior is the first step.

Helping your dog feel safe is where real change begins.

When I look at that picture now, I don't just see three animals taking a nap.

I see three animals who once struggled to live together.

When we lived in our previous home, there were eight animals sharing about 800 square feet. It was stressful for everyone.

Tarzan was so overwhelmed that he spent much of his first year and a half living in the bathroom. His stress became so severe that he developed a bladder stone and even needed medication to help manage his anxiety after he recovered.

It would have been easy to look at that situation and believe they were simply "animals that didn't get along."

Instead, I looked at what they needed.

Every new introduction was slow and intentional. We let them adjust to each other's scent before they ever met face to face. We paired those introductions with meals and positive experiences, allowing trust to develop at their own pace instead of forcing relationships.

Then something unexpected happened.

When we moved to Phoenix, they finally had something they had never really had before...

Space.

Space to retreat.

Space to feel safe.

Space to choose to be together instead of being forced together.

Today, they play together. They relax together. And more often than not, they choose to sleep together.

This photo isn't just a picture of three animals on a couch.

It's a picture of what patience, thoughtful introductions, and giving animals what they truly need can create.

Most dogs don't pull because they're stubborn.

They pull because they want to get somewhere...

And pulling has worked.

Every step forward while the leash is tight teaches them:

*"Keep pulling. It gets me where I want to go."*

The good news?

That means we can teach something different.

Loose leash walking isn't about overpowering your dog or constantly correcting them.

It's about teaching them that patience, attention, and walking with you are what make the walk continue.

When we stop asking, *"How do I stop the pulling?"* and start asking, *"What is my dog learning from this?"* everything changes.

If you've ever owned a cat, you've probably watched them slowly push something off a table while maintaining direct eye contact.

And you've probably wondered:

"Why?"

Believe it or not, cats usually aren't doing it just to annoy us.

They may be:

🐾 Exploring an object

🐾 Seeking attention

🐾 Relieving boredom

🐾 Practicing natural hunting behaviors

🐾 Testing cause and effect

Cats are naturally curious, and sometimes that curiosity comes at the expense of whatever was sitting on your countertop.

Of course...

There are times when I'm convinced Rocket does it just to watch my reaction. 😹

Understanding behavior starts with understanding why it happens.

Even when that behavior sends your favorite pen, water bottle, or coffee mug crashing to the floor.

One of the biggest mistakes we make with dogs is trying to change behavior before we understand it.

Every behavior serves a purpose.

Barking.

Jumping.

Pulling.

Avoiding.

Reacting.

The behavior itself isn't the whole story.

The question is:

Why is it happening?

When we slow down and observe instead of immediately correcting, we often discover something important.

Behavior is communication.

The more we understand what a dog is trying to tell us, the better we can help them succeed.

Sometimes the answer isn't more training.

Sometimes the answer is better understanding.
