This is keeper-only territory for animals that are medically significant and demand real experience, the right tools, and a serious safety plan. These are not animals to “work up to” casually.

🔥 Spice 4 — Advanced

Spice 4 is where things get serious.

These animals are not beginner-friendly and are best for experienced keepers who already have multiple successful setups behind them. Spice 4 animals can be fast, defensive, harder to predict, and much less forgiving if the enclosure or handling plan is sloppy.

Think: blink-and-miss-it speed, threat displays, fast strikes, and setups that need to be sealed, secure, and dialed in before every interaction.

Spice 3 is where the hobby starts talking back.

These animals are faster, fussier, and more opinionated. They are not impossible, but they do expect you to already know the basics. Think successful molts, good feeding rhythms, solid enclosure habits, and calm catch-cup work.

🌶️ SPICE 2 — BEGINNER

Spice 2 is that sweet little step up from Spice 1.

Still beginner-friendly, still forgiving, but now you start seeing a little more personality: deliberate movement, mild defensive postures, and that classic “okay buddy, I see you” feeding response.

Today’s Spice 2 fella: Emperor Scorpion 🦂

These guys are one of our favorite picks for newer keepers who want something a little more exciting without jumping straight into the spicy end. They are bold, chunky, impressive, and usually pretty manageable with the right setup.

Spice 2 is best for:
Someone who has done well with a simple beginner setup and wants an animal with more presence.

Emperors are a sweet spot for most adult first-time keepers. Give them the right enclosure, humidity, hides, and respect, and they are honestly awesome.

🕷️ DROP ALERT — Curly Hair Tarantula Juveniles

Tliltocatl albopilosus — 3 to 4 inch juveniles

The Curly Hair is one of the most bulletproof beginner tarantulas in the hobby — calm, hardy, and that golden bronze setae makes them one of the better-looking terrestrials you'll keep.
