Hey, I’m Kevin, reptile enthusiast, lifelong animal lover, and lead surgical technician at an exotic animal hospital. With over 10 years of hands-on experience working with reptiles, birds, and small mammals, I’ve built my life around caring for creatures that often get overlooked. At home, I’m surrounded by animals of my own—from snakes and tortoises to cats, dogs, and even a bearded dragon named Dorito. I’ve always felt that exotic pets, especially reptiles, don’t get the recognition or care they deserve. They’re intelligent, fascinating, and each one has its own personality, but their care takes a special kind of knowledge and dedication. That’s why I created Kev Xotic’s Reptile Sitting. What started with a simple request to watch someone’s leopard gecko has grown into a professional and reliable in-home pet care service for reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, and more. Whether it slithers, hops, climbs, or scurries, I’ve got it covered. I treat every pet like it’s my own because I know what it means to love an animal that the world doesn’t always understand. One of the many perks of running my pet sitting business is that every now and then I get to trade the scaly reptiles for a fluffy face like this!

Chinchillas have the densest fur of any land mammal, with up to 80 hairs growing from a single follicle. That incredibly soft coat also means they can overheat very easily, so they should never be given water baths. Instead, they keep their fur clean with regular dust baths.

This little chinchilla, Oliver, is enjoying some Critical Care, and judging by his excitement, you’d think it was his favorite treat. He absolutely loves it!

At Kev-Xotic’s Reptile Sitting, we provide species appropriate care tailored to each animal’s specific needs. We maintain enclosures of various sizes to accommodate a wide range of reptiles, ensuring proper space, security, and comfort. All setups include appropriate heating to create proper temperature gradients, along with high quality linear UVB lighting that is replaced every 6 months to ensure effectiveness. We also carefully maintain proper humidity levels based on each species’ requirements to support overall health, shedding, and natural behaviors. We provide all food during their stay, unless there are specific dietary items your pet requires that we may not have. Your reptile’s husbandry is our priority, and we focus on maintaining the conditions they need to thrive while in our care.
