For almost 3 years of owning my business, I’ve never really shared the meaning behind the name “SOA Braided Horse Tack.”
Today feels like the right day to finally talk about it.
SOA stands for Soul Of Alexander. Alexander was my dad’s name.
22 years ago today, I lost him when I was only 4 years old. Because I was so young, I don’t really have memories of him the way I wish I did, and I think that’s one of the hardest parts of grief for me the unknown. Wondering who he was, what he would sound like, what kind of grandfather he would’ve been to my boys.
Horses have always been where I’ve felt closest to him. They became my comfort, my peace, and eventually the center of a business I built with my own hands. So when it came time to name my horse & tack business, I wanted it to mean something deeper than just horses or tack.
I wanted a piece of him to live on in it.
So every halter, every breast collar, every order, every show setup, every late night working… carries a little piece of my dad with it.
