Our cutie little carpet chameleon, Gerti has started getting ready to lay her eggs!

Gerti and Eliot came to us from Living Art by Frank Payne back in February and we’re very excited to see these babies next year.

This is our cute Ambanja Panther Chameleon that just laid 23 eggs a couple Fridays ago.

Chomping down the crickets!

I would say about half of our Panthers bum rush us at the habitat door and take their lunch straight from the cups we’re using. The other half are either still a little more stand-off-ish or just plain prefer to hunt or eat in privacy. The ones that will just sit there and wait for us to back off by 10’ or more before they’ll eat are the ones I think are the funniest. But I suppose it’s natural defensive positioning. You lose protection if occupied eating. (Our dogs are kind of like that. They like someone watching them eat or they may put off food. Like Rocky in Project Hail Mary they need someone trusted watching over them.)

Hey Payson, Spanish Fork, Santaquin, Nephi area reptile enthusiasts! (And the surrounding cities!) Do you want a Reptile Expo of our very own in our area?

We are a new Reptile Specialty store that incorporated in Spring of this year. We are looking to open a brick and mortar store front in the south Utah County area by the end of 2028 at the latest.

MEANWHILE! We are investigating an opportunity to host our own South Utah County Reptile Expo and we’re looking for parties that may be interested in being a vendor.

If you have animals to sell, products like accessories, habitats, clothing, toys, et cetera that are reptile pet-related or closely adjacent like other exotic animals (think tarantulas and other arachnids, plants for habitats, fish, or…dinosaur/dragon paraphernalia) and you think you may like to participate in August 2027 in a local venue then PLEASE reach out to us by private message. We’ll get back to you with our developing plans and information and potential pricing. (It will be cheap compared to SLC valley big three shows that happen annually.)

We are contemplating a place in Payson, most likely. Such as Peteetneet, or the Clarion. We might also look at other options in neighboring cities like the River Bridge Center in SF. But the point will be to have our own South Utah County/Juab County show.

We’d love to talk to reptile enthusiasts that would like to do educational series or animal show/displays. The focus for any vendor should be reptile related or exotic animal-adjacent products and animals.

Right now, we’re just collecting interested parties and offerings to make sure we have a great introductory show in 2027 to kick off an annual show. You would not be committing to anything now to express interest and there’s no fees to collect until we have a confirmed show and it’s time to register.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions about the potential 2027 IPMA Creatures Reptile Show or about our store and offerings.

August is apparently THE month for egg laying around here.

Our Exotic Fire Hogs Chahouas we got from them in April at SLC Reptilian Nation show just laid their second clutch of the season.

Nice, BIG pair of eggs it seems like (compared to the first clutch).

They were acting kinda strange around dinner time tonight. I checked on their favorite egg location at 10pm because they were huddled around acting suspicious and sure enough they had just laid them. Stuck very well to the cork so we had to remove it to put in the hatchery.

So fun! Our Chahoua are kind of our favorite to watch together. We named them Tony and Maria after the West Side Story couple.

Our little gravid Gerti is glowing. 😁

Such interesting colors since she was coupled to Eliot. Seems like the patterns she exhibits change every day. We’re expecting a mid-September laying time.

Last of the investments in Panther Chameleons this year. SIX arrived this week—in part because a couple came a bit earlier than we expected.

So, surprise! We have six quarantine habitats in our kitchen for the moment while we get permanent homes ready. (Please forgive me saying “cages” on video. Sometimes the tongue just skips and says the easiest near-equivalent word. 😆)

These two are from West Coast Chameleon Brothers and they are absolutely gorgeous for how young they are. I might almost be sad if they don’t keep a bit of this color/pattern but as females, who knows?

They will eventually be bred with our “Raja” who is an adult Ambilobe also of a “Tiger” sort of pattern.

So we had a surprise notice last night from CB Reptiles that they were (finally?) shipping a Nosy Be male we bought a while ago. We had decided to give them a chance despite many bad reviews mixed in with some good experiences we’ve seen from others.

We can’t tell if he was mis-labeled as “Male Amb.” On his bin when we ordered a Nosy Be or if he really is an ambilobe or Ambanja, etc. I’ve asked. Haven’t heard back. Not terribly surprised. But he does seem healthy. Too young to tell for sure but he has more patterns like our other young Nosy Be’s in the right mood/color than he does like our Ambanja and our Ambilobe. So, we’ll see as he grows and/or if CB replies to our concerns.

And earlier last week we received a truly beautiful Nosy Be male from Curtis Atchley Jr anyway. We may still breed both our girls with Curtis’ and…sigh…we’ll just see how we’re feeling with “Bluey” here later, instead of paring them separately.

Also today: we received a “Tiger” pattern YBBB female ambilobe from Scale Society (Johnny Goukassian) from Morph Market to start a breeding program with our “Tiger” we got from McCluney Herps on MM last week. Very excited for this. (Had a good shed going when she arrived too.)

Pictures of the mature pink/jabba-the-hutt-looking female ambilobe “Jasmine” (to go with “Raja” Tiger and “Bluey” for your viewing pleasure.

We had planned to purchase some additional geckos from a good contact/breeder we’ve met here on Facebook this fall but we keep running into great deals on the Panther chameleons we want for breeding too, and our geckos are giving us some egg clutches now. So, the Panther addiction is getting worse.

When it rains, it pours. A second clutch of Flying Gecko eggs this morning!
