When your dog outweighs your ability to physically control him, along with his head the size of a bowling ball, your relationship and communication become EVERYTHING! š¾
With a big boy like Tiny, aka Tynee, I can't rely on physical strength alone. And honestly, I shouldn't have to.
Let's face it, 135 pounds of muscle with his own opinions can make things interesting!
It's about building a relationship based on trust, respect, and clear communication. Teaching him to respond to direction rather than relying on me to physically manage him.
I also incorporate occasional low-level taps from the remote collar as an additional layer of feedback, reinforcing communication he already understands.
Now, here's the important part! Tynee has been properly conditioned to understand the remote collar, and I'm using a quality unit. BOTH matter!
Please don't run out, buy a remote collar, and start pushing buttons hoping for the best! Proper conditioning, timing, and understanding are essential. Your dog needs to be trained to understand the collar, and YOU need to be trained to use it correctly.
The goal isn't to overpower a dog. It's to develop a dog that willingly works WITH you.
Especially when that dog is 135 pounds of muscle and personality!
Train with purpose. Live with balance.
