Meet Scout 🐾🐶
Scout came to me about a year ago with enough energy to power a small city. He was just a puppy, and excitement was his default setting. Sitting still for grooming? Not exactly at the top of his priority list. 😆
When we first started working together, he wasn’t comfortable with having his face handled, which meant we took things slow. It took several appointments before he trusted me enough to fully groom his face. The blow dryer wasn’t his favorite either, and keeping him focused often meant having a treat or toy nearby to help channel all that puppy energy.
But with patience, consistency, and trust, Scout has come such a long way.
Over time, he learned that grooming isn’t something to fear. He now allows me to hold his face comfortably for grooming, accepts having his feet handled, and while the dryer still isn’t his favorite part of the process, he’s learning how to relax and work through it. Most importantly, he’s learning how to regulate all that excitement so we can get the job done and then spend some time hanging out while he waits for his family to arrive.
One of my favorite parts of grooming is watching dogs grow in confidence and trust over time. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping a dog feel comfortable with a process they once found overwhelming.
Scout still has plenty of puppy energy, but seeing how far he’s come over the last year has been amazing. ❤️
Follow along as Scout continues his journey!
