We love sharing the excitement of planned crosses, confirmed pregnancies, welcoming new foals into the world and helping make other peopleโs dreams come true by offering quality, affordable foals. However the reality of raising horses and mules is that sometimes despite doing everything right, things go wrong.
It is with heavy hearts we share that Gidget, one of only two mares bred to RMS Hobart for a 2027 mule foal experienced a spontaneous abortion.๐ While loss is unfortunately part of owning and breeding animals, it doesnโt make this any easier.
Despite the unavoidable lows we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do something we love, but we believe in sharing the hard parts not just the highlights. Behind every breeding program are big plans, hopes, hard work, and sometimes heartbreak. This was just a reminder that no matter how much we plan and hope, nature ultimately has the final say.
Despite losing her foal, Gidget is doing well. We are unsure of the breeding plans for her come spring but she is a favorite. Even without her own 2027 foal Gidget still made a large contribution towards our program as we are expecting foals out of her two daughters.
Weโll continue to put our hearts into our programs and look forward to the foals we are still expecting in 2027. Thank you to everyone that follows and supports our small program๐ฉท
