Hello! You are invited!

Hi everyone!

I am excited to introduce a new addition to the AIR Equestrian Competition Team: Monthly Horsemanship Classes!

These classes are designed to help our riders expand their knowledge beyond the saddle and become more confident, capable, and well-rounded horsepeople. Each month, we'll explore a different topic related to horse care, management, safety, equipment, and practical horsemanship.

Join us for our monthly horsemanship class. Those showing on Sunday are encouraged to stay to give the horses baths and prepare tack!

This Month's Topic: Bits & Boots

Our first class will focus on Bits & Boots!

We will discuss the different types of horse boots and bits, including their purpose, proper fit and application, mechanisms of action, and how different equipment choices can affect the horse. Riders will have the opportunity to explore the equipment and ask questions as we learn more about what we use every day with our horses.

Who Can Attend?

Horsemanship Classes are included at no additional cost for qualifying AIR Equestrian Competition Team members who prepay for monthly services and actively participate in the Competition Team.

Riders who are not currently eligible for complimentary access are still welcome to join us for $20 per class. Individual class access can be purchased through the AIR Equestrian website's online store:

Stick Around For Show Prep

After the Horsemanship Class, riders are encouraged to stay and participate in our Show Prep Day as we get ready for our show on Sunday, August 30.

Throughout the afternoon, we'll be:

-Giving lessons
-Bathing and grooming horses
-Cleaning and preparing tack
-Organizing equipment
-Getting both horses and riders ready for show day!
-A potential opportunity to watch Ariana work on training a young horse

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the work that goes into preparing for a competition while spending time with the team.

Please let me know if you plan to attend so I can prepare accordingly. I am excited to kick off our first Horsemanship Class and hope to see everyone there!

See you at the barn! 🐴

🐎 Meet Cameo 🐎
Every barn has a personality — and at AIR Equestrian, that title proudly belongs to Cameo.

Obtained in November of 2025, Cameo Shores is our current project horse in preparation for the 2026 Retired Racehorse Project's Thoroughbred Makeover.

Before joining AIR Equestrian, Cameo spent the past three years as a broodmare. Following her time in the breeding shed, she has undergone a complete rebacking and restarting process — thoughtfully and patiently rebuilding her foundation under saddle as she transitions into her second (and now third!) career.

As an off-the-track Thoroughbred, Cameo brings incredible athleticism, intelligence, and presence — along with a healthy dose of diva energy. She is a more sensitive mare who requires tact, feel, and incredible patience. She feels everything, processes everything, and is not afraid to voice her opinion. But when given clarity and fairness, she rises to the occasion beautifully.

Her eagerness to please, combined with her natural movement and power, make her an exciting prospect for the sport. After months of intentional restarting, Cameo is now ready to begin traveling off-property as we prepare for her first show — a major milestone in her development.

Following the Makeover, if all goes to plan, Cameo will transition into a full-time competition horse for the 2027 season, proudly representing AIR Equestrian.

At AIR Equestrian, restarting Thoroughbreds isn’t just about retraining — it’s about meeting each horse where they are and building confidence from the ground up. Cameo embodies that philosophy every day.

Stay tuned — this diva’s show-ring debut is on the horizon. ✨

🐎 Meet Bam Bam 🐎
Bam Bam is AIR Equestrian’s very own off-the-track Thoroughbred, registered as Awesomenewyear. During her racing career, she earned over $100,000 on the track — a testament to her athleticism, heart, and competitive spirit.

Now retired from racing, she is settling beautifully into her second career as a sport horse. Bam Bam is exceptionally sweet, patient, and eager to please — the kind of mare who truly wants to understand her job. She carries that signature Thoroughbred work ethic into every ride. And while she may miss going fast from time to time, that competitive spark now fuels her development in eventing.

For 2026, Bam Bam proudly serves as AIR Equestrian’s competition horse, representing our program in the eventing world. She can be seen competing at local shows throughout the season, as well as at the beautiful Carolina Horse Park.

Bam Bam embodies what AIR Equestrian stands for:
✨ Thoughtful Thoroughbred restarting
✨ Developing athleticism with patience
✨ Giving racehorses successful second careers

We’re excited to see where this season takes her — and we can’t wait to share her journey with you.

Her approach is rooted in patience, safety, and developing well-rounded equestrians who understand horse care and horsemanship beyond just riding.
