Taking turns honoring water retrieves.

First off, I will not claim to be a retriever guy. This is not my expertise. But, this girl has to do a long blind retrieve across water at the NAVHDA Invitational and I wanted to get some casting controls on her before September in case she gets off her line. This is the polar opposite of a duck search, where she’s expected to independently search for the duck with no handler input. We have never done any whistle work. I just personally don’t like whistles in the field, so I don’t use one. This is her 3rd training session on this. One whistle blast means sit. We are working on getting her nose, spine, and tail in line prior to the send. We are also working on turning left and right on back sends. Once she is totally comfortable with this I’ll add left and right overs. Or l’ll try. Again, no clue what I’m doing here. Just sending it.

Duck search at a new pond. It’s a small pond, but the ducks decided to get real nasty and dive in those cat tails. Murph was relentless, covered the whole pond, and eventually returned with his prize. Don’t mention the sketchy hold, he held on all the way in!
