What you see with pet behavior is not necessarily what is actually happening. We as humans have a tendency to project onto our animal companions-
To a human, this may look like a cat hug… but it is actually Pistachio and Hazelnut playing. Though cats playing can also escalate to a cat fight, it’s important to keep an eye out when you see things like ears slicked back, especially wide eyes, raised hackles, a poofy tail, etc.
In this case, though both cats have their ears slicked back, this was an example of a playful exchange- but not all cats play the same and it is important to use discretion and discernment when you see an animal behavior that may be “cute”.
