This Comet has had enough of flying through space and is ready to find a place to land! This poor senior gentleman seems a bit depressed since coming to our sanctuary, and we really want to find him a loving owner soon.

Comet is a brown tabby male, the vet aged him around 13 years. He's a relaxed senior that spends most of his time snoozing in his favorite box! He's very chatty when he wants to eat or when he wants your attention, but for the most part just snoozes.

Comet doesn't care for the other cats at the sanctuary and would prefer a home with no other cats, or maybe one other. He would make a fantastic companion for anyone really, but we think he would be an awesome companion for an older person.

Hamon has been waiting for a home for 261 days.

He is almost 12 years old.

A kennel is no place for him.

You see, Hamon’s life hasn’t been the easiest, and it’s left him with some uncertainties. But anyone who takes the time to understand him will see his gentle and loving nature.

He’s playful, full of curiosity, and has an undeniable talent for making biscuits - his little paws kneading with the utmost care, at even just the slightest glance his way. (See comments!)

Despite his age, Hamon still has so much love to give. He just needs patience and a safe space to let his heart fully open.

Please come meet him today.

If there’s one shelter kitty we’re especially hoping to see in a home by Christmas, it’s Dracula.

Several months ago, this precious senior was found outdoors barely clinging to life, but a Good Samaritan found and brought him to the SPCA just in time. Now, Dracula is safe and cared for, but as he faces end-stage kidney failure, what he wants most is to spend the time he has left in a real home.

Despite Dracula’s health challenges, he’s in good spirits and has so much love to give. He’s happiest when he’s cuddled up in your arms, giving the softest hugs and purring sweetly into your ear.

Please help us give Dracula the happiest memory of his life — a Christmas filled with love, warmth, and the comfort of family.

To inquire about Dracula, please contact us via email at [email protected], by telephone at (585) 593-2200 Ex. 2, or stop in to meet Dracula in person!

For two years, Meowser has quietly watched hundreds of other kitties find their forever homes. She has seen them leave with loving families, their stories unfolding while hers remains at a standstill. With all our hearts, we hope that soon it will be Meowser’s turn to have her own happily ever after.

Meowser came to us in December 2022 as a cruelty case. At first, she was so shy and overwhelmed that she barely left her hiding spot. But over time, she has come out of her shell and there is a spark of hope in her eyes that one day, she too will be adopted.

This Christmas, we want nothing more than to see Meowser curled up in a cozy spot by the tree, feeling the safety and warmth of a bond she has waited so long for. Will you be Meowser’s hero by making her wish come true, or by helping her story reach someone who can? Being part of a loving family is the greatest gift this sweet girl could ever ask for.

Meowser is approaching her 6th birthday. A sensitive, gentle soul, she would flourish in a quiet, patient home where she can fully blossom into her true self, with (she hopes) a feline friend by her side. Meowser can also be dog-tested upon request.

Interested in adopting Meowser? Please stop by the shelter any day from 12-4pm to meet her. Applications can be found here at the SPCA, on our website, or you can email us for one.

Happy New Year!! 2025 is going to be their year!!

Are you looking to adopt a cat? Are you one of those amazing people who want to give a home to a shelter cat that's been there the longest? Well we have some options for you! We have Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue's 5 LONGEST residents. 👇

We already featured Baby, our longest resident the other day. Unfortunately no inquiries just yet but we hope you all keep sharing!🤞

Next up is miss Nebula. 1255 days! Basically 3.5 years she has been at the shelter. 😞 Which is practically her whole life since she is 3.5-4 years old. Nebula was trapped along with her siblings. They were young teenagers and spicy spicy. 🌶 Luckily all of Nebulas siblings were adopted over the years. Nebula has always been a bit shy and unfortunately looked over during meet and greets. Nebula is pretty independent and would do fine on her own. She could also co exist with another cat that respects her space. She is like the queen when all the cats come out to play. She basically just watches them from afar and when they get too rowdy and try to pounce her, she will whack them over the side of the head reminding them who is in charge. 🤣 It's actually pretty awesome as she is the matriarch. We have spotted her playing with the other cats on occasion. She LOVES her wand and feather toys. Yells at you during meal time. Nebula enjoys petting once she gets to know you. She can still be skittish at times and will need some time to get comfortable in her new home but we expect her to do just fine once settled. She is not a fan of being handled. We can do it, but she is not a fan. Older respectful kids probably best. No clue about dogs but guessing she would definitely not like any that are up in her face.

Nebula needs a chance. Just a chance. Is there anyone out there willing to do just that?

Please help us share all of our long-term residents. They have been with us for far too long! They need homes and families of their own. No cat should have to live their whole life in a shelter.

Juno is a special cat, and C.A.R.E. could use your help placing him in the right home! This 6-year-old boy has been with us a couple months now, and so far has not shown the typical signs of wanting to form any kind of relationship with people. However, he does well in the quiet room we set up for him, and seems content to keep to himself. With this in mind, we think he may be suited for an indoor/outdoor life or even just outdoor if the home situation has a nice cozy place for him to curl up and keep warm! (Like a barn, enclosed porch, etc!) He's a good guy, just no interest in people that we've observed. Know anyone looking for a fella like Juno? Message or call us!

Rudy just cannot believe his luck! He has yet to receive an adoption inquiry.

Rudy arrived at the shelter over a year ago as a helpless stray kitten-and has grown into the most dapper fella! 😍

Rudy truly has it all....he is very handsome, charming, laid back and extremely friendly so it is hard to understand why this spectacular young man has not been adopted yet.

Rudy would make an excellent addition to any home looking to add a feline friend. He loves everyone he meets and likes other kitties. He would do best in a home without dogs.

If this charming young gentleman seems like the cat for you-stop by the shelter any day from 12-4pm to meet him! Adoption applications can be found here at the SPCA, on our website, or you can email us for one.

PLEASE SHARE TO HELP THESE KITTIES AT SCRUFFY PAWS GET ADOPTED!

2025 is going to be their year! It has to be...
Our team is REALLY focusing on finding some of our long term residents forever homes this New Year. We just have SO many rescues that it's often VERY difficult to showcase them all in a timely manner. So for now, here are our top 5 LONGEST residents. We will be talking about them one at a time and we please ask you to help us share!

Baby - the longest resident of Scruffy Paws. 1,948 days!!! Baby is approximately 8 year old and a whopping 17lbs! He's basically a turkey. Baby originally came to us when we were trying to assist with a small hoarding situation where the cats were well taken care of but not very social with people and of course not spayed/neutered. Originally the plan was to spay and neuter these cats and give them back to the owner. But when we attempted to give them back to the owner, she no longer wanted them. At the time we were stuck with 7 undersocalized adults. Which was a lot on us at the time. Luckily over the years, the others all found homes. Baby has definitely come a long way since his arrival. His foster mom can pet and pick him up on a occasion. He does well with other cats. He did have a urinary blockage a few times and received the PU surgery because of this. He needs to be on urinary food for the rest of his life. He would do best in an adult only home or with respectful older children. He is not a lap cat and very on his own terms. However, in the right home setting, Baby has more potential! We totally can handle him for his vet visit. He will need patience and understanding when he goes to a new home. Cat or cats in the home are a must. Baby can be a bully at times with submissive cats. This is on a occasion. He does extremely well with cats who can hold their own. No doggies for Baby! He needs stability and someone who is settled where they are for a very long time.

Baby's adoption fee has been sponsored. And Scruffy Paws will provide 12 months worth of his prescription food to his new owner. Please help us share. Baby needs a home and family of his own. 5 years is just too long to be without a forever family.
